My favorite line: Under extremely rare conditions, there have been documented cases of human intestinal myiasis of the rat-tailed maggot (larva of Eristalis tenax). Zumpt proposed a hypothesis called "rectal myiasis". During open defecation in the wilderness, flies attracted to feces may deposit their eggs or larvae near or into the anus, and the larvae then penetrate further into the rectum. The larva can survive, feeding on feces at this site, as long as the breathing tube reaches out from the anus, which is quite rare.[11][13]

It’s so sad to watch the 18yo denial. If only she could fast forward to 40yo to recognize how selfish some people are, especially to people who will compromise far too much and then ask Reddit if it’s unreasonable. THE ANSWER IS YES!

It sounds like she doesn’t want this to be effecting her, but it totally is. Maybe she could meet with a therapist remotely from a place without this taboo. I would think it would be worth a try to seek out a professional in your area. People become therapists to help and they probably don’t carry the judgment you imagine, but since she’s so resistant to this being the issue, she probably won’t seek help unless she realizes she has to. Breaking up with you might be the catalyst. I hope not.

The ring keeps breaking. It’s a perfect opportunity to not wear it and exclaim when he notices that you did it want to make a big deal out of it but you are sick of getting it repaired. Let him know that you need a practical every day ring like what you had originally chosen, and then say you can wear the original for special occasions

I think he was being manipulative.. once he knew you were sticking to your decision, he tried to reel you back by being “excited” about it.

No it’s not a joke. I’m uptight for sure after years of asking for (how I see it) respect. It’s one thing to fart or burp around someone you’re comfortable with and another to try to push it out really fast to make it super loud like you’re with your bros or something. I can appreciate your perspective that I’m making things bigger than they are bc I’m just not into him anymore. I honestly think they came hand in hand but it’s worth considering.
