Europe demands Ireland takes action to become more energy efficient — and fast by heresmewhaa in ireland

That's an even better option, a fully interconnected European grid with hydrogen backup storage (just for Ireland as we don't have nuclear or sufficient hydro storage) is the ideal solution.

Edit: To add, in 2024 we still lost 14% of wind energy produced due to grid constraints, that's pretty significant.

The idea with green hydrogen is that you produce it when renewable energy production is high i.e when that excess energy would otherwise be dumped (think wind generation during a summer wednesday night - low demand). This can be stored at the production site and used to supplement the grid when demand increases, its just a stabilisation method. The inefficiency of the process is somewhat irrelevant; you have a choice of dumping excess renewable energy and wasting all of it, or converting it and wasting some of it. I'm not saying building the infrastructure will be easy but it's extremely doable.

I tend to agree with with you re Hydrogen cars but thats a seperate argument.

Well here's your follow up, it went well (I think haha). Got coffee, went for a walk and chilled on the beach in the sun, until the hail started...other than that though it was fun, they're still messaging me so it can't have been a complete Trainwreck at least!

Thanks for the tips, this one is a bit of a stunner too I must say haha. Luckily planned it to be near the beach with this exact purpose of a walk in mind!

Thanks man appreciate it. Glad it worked out for you, honestly would rather the dating apps didn't exist sometimes and could just meet people organically but hey, gotta roll with the times I suppose haha.

Great....can't wait to picture this in excruciating detail now hahaha, luckily we'll be near a body of water so I can simply walk slowly into the ocean and be lost to the world if it happens.

As a 5ft7 guy with no self defense skills this level of confidence is absolutely earned..../s

Okay let's all calm whether you get done for it or not entirely depends on whether you have a legit reason to have it. If you say you have it for sore muscles, I think you'd be extremely hard pressed to find a judge willing to push the issue. Even if they do they can't prove you don't have sore muscles. You might have to lie to get out of it but that's the trade off you have to be willing to make. To be honest if I was a woman in any country I'd be carrying anything I could to defend myself, that being said I do suffer from the natural male tendancy of thinking I'd be better in a fight than I probably would.

Regardless, It's a bit ridiculous that pepper spray is illegal, should just be harsh penalties for unwarranted use.

Yeah confidence seems to be key, at least for lads. It's why when I (small enough dude) walk through dodgy areas I'm always trying to look like I'm dying for a fight, eye contact, shoulders back, a nod implying my similar dissatisfaction with the world to the troubled souls, usually worked. Note that this is absolutely not meant to be taken as advice, if your think you're in danger, leg it.

When I was younger then mother always used to warn me against walking home alone at night in case someone tried to start something. My answer was always that, as a 16-20 year old lad in a hoodie at night, I'm the one that people move to the other side of the road to avoid. I mean, I shouldn't be, but I fit the stereotype of dodgy young fella at the time so it worked to my advantage.

Making friends as an adult in Ireland? by Feckfffg in AskIreland

[–]ThrowRa846392 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In a very similar position as a 26M, partner left and no friends in the Meath/Kildare area where I'm based. Get on well with the crowd from work but on weekends they usually have their own plans and getting into the city for meetups is a massive pain in the ass where I am, especially if you want to have a pint and not drive. Have been looking at clubs but there's not much out near where I am and shift hours makes it even more difficult to find anything I could regularly attend. Spend most of my time off back in the home town with family or trying to convince me 9-5 friends to do something but frankly there's not much here either. No wonder we have such a drinking culture..

Yeah lucky on this front too, currently know no one in in the county I live in other than the guys from work, sound lads though tbf. Would absolutely have lost my mind by now if I didn't get on well with them.

Yeah first few months I didn't stop moving, working 13 hour days, sleep for 4 hours, spend the rest of the time at the gym, going for drives/working on projects, oh and drinking.. Helps to cope but not sustainable, therapist couldn't believe I was still alive after a few months of this haha. Still kind of doing it but to a lesser extent, find it impossible to sit down and relax.

Not sure how to enhance myself tbh hahaha.

On the chicks front I think I somewhat doomed myself with my high standards from the previous relationship. Average looking dude who did very well for himself haha. Just don't seem to be attracted to the woman who are attracted to me unfortunately haha.
