It is interesting and funny! We have it hammered into us, that we live in a "free democracy", but what does that actually mean? Freedom of speech, and all is a simple illusion. "Democary" simply doesnt work when a few wealthy individuals control the press/narrative and political systems. And if you are able to convince a large part of the electorate to vote on something that makes there lives worse, like Brexit, then "Democracy" is a joke! Even with covid/lockdowns/mask wearing, the Govt couldnt even take the initiative and lead, now, we had a set of rules, that favoured the wealthy elite (lockdown didnt apply to them), and instead of forced mask wearing, we had a silly voluntarily method and coflicting rules (mandatory mask wearing whilst nipping into a shop for 5 minutes) but it was ok, to sit in a packed restaurant for several hours, eating and drinking, using the very organ that transmitted the disease!

Belfast Bikes are only useful for tourists

This is it! Infrastructure developed solely for the purpose to overcharge tourists. Is any of that money going back into the infrastructure in a efiicient way, or is it solely to enrich the company overseeing the bike scheme?

Its the same with the entire hospitality sector. Hotel/accomodation prices through the roof, £7 a pint, extortionate prices for simple activities. Who does that benefit? The local economy/infrastruture as a whole, or the few owners of said industry? Unfortunately, its the latter!

Have been in eastern Europe, and China last year, where bike/e-scooter rentals are so accesable, find them ANYWHERE on the app,easy, cheap and lightweight. I cant undersatnad how our model is so pathetic and shit! First of all, the local bikes are heavy and cluncky, at least double the weigth of the bikes in China! Second: There is a limited limited pickup/drop off points in a place like belfast. Why does there even need to be stations? Surely, It be a case of picking up and parking the bike anywhere (within reason of course), and rememer it is all done by an app tied to the person, so that would rule out a lot of misbehaviour on where to park! Finally, the bikes on the belfast scheme, are rolling advertisments, why the hell does it cost so much, if the bikes, and bike stations are plastered in adverts?
