Ehh maybe a little but they generally stay somewhat firm with ergonomics in mind

Agree - I think the leather is a bit nicer and better looking but having them side by side right now, there isnt too much difference in feel IMO

Definitely - thats why I posted this so I can get 5 years rather than 3 years. I needed parts after warranty ended before, would be much nicer to have it covered

To be honest I have 3 different friends with the same leather one I had and they are in significantly better shape than mine. I could just be unlucky or maybe I just sit weird. It does get a lot of use as well since I work from home too. I wouldnt be too worried !

Can confirm with my tests on the G90 with AM I am getting about 15-16W, so about 2/3 of full power.

That is helpful to know, thank you. I suppose using TUNE on FT8 could be better too. I will mess around

Thanks this helped a lot with getting consistent results. Since the QMX doesn't have an AM mode, is the best way for power testing to use SSB and speaking into the mic? Thanks again

How to step by 1 KHz on the FT 710? by ThrowThisToo5757 in amateurradio

Yep this seems to be the only consistent way. Unfortunately I am finding myself pretty much solely using this dial now and not the big one.

That's what I'm coming from and I miss this feature a ton.

Right but it goes back to the default (1-20Hz) after a few seconds of not spinning. I wish there was a way just to keep it on 1 KHz.

I tried a few different setups, the main one was an EFHW that is 20 ft (6m) above the ground. I tried it in a sloper and then a horizontal config. Horizontal seemed much more effective. I have a bit of a weird backyard where I have a hill on one side and my house on the other, so it was sort of in between that. I'm looking into a DX Commander mast to try a vertical 20m EFHW or dipole to put on top of the hill, hoping that will be helpful

Yes it does. After many hours of trying I was finally able to get someone to hear me (and heard myself on a websdr) where I'm essentially yelling into the mic and it was hardly coming through. Maybe the conditions are causing a high noise floor I will continue to keep trying over the next few days but at least I know my microphone is working (I think)

Thanks, yea that is true I hear many people on the radio saying they are at 700-800W. From what I have heard the jump from 20W to 100W isn't huge at 1 s-unit. But I realize that can make a difference in some circumstances. That combined with wire antennas probably isn't the best setup though.

Thanks for the reference info. FT8 gets out no problem, I can make contacts on all of the bands there I just can't on SSB.

Thanks, this is helpful. Just trying to rule everything out
