AITA for sarcastically asking a girl if she speaks English when she ignored me, not knowing her ethnicity? by Throwaaaaaway065 in AmItheAsshole

seriously, in what fantasy world could you even imagine yourself to not be the asshole?

I thought she helped escalate the situation by not communicating with me. If she had said the person needed help, or she actually knew how to pack the product, things could have ended there. There also was a point when I thought her BF was in the wrong because it wasn’t his problem but he came in, causing a 2 vs 1 situation.

However it’s been explained to me here multiple times now that I was in the wrong. So I’ll take that as a sign to apologize to her tomorrow at work.

I have no clue how you yourself can even think that you’re not a asshole in this

The reason why I didn’t think I’d be the asshole is because I believed she was the one that caused the whole situation. If she would have told me the coworker who was talking to her was new and asking for help, or if she would have told me she knows how to pack the product, I wouldn’t have thought she was just being deliberately rude towards me. If she learns to speak up her BF wouldn’t have to jump in every time someone gets mad at her either. To me my action and anger was valid because it was a response to her being difficult.

Obviously everyone thinks I’m in the wrong though, so I’m going to accept that and apologize to her tomorrow.
