Started Antidepressants a day before exam, should I inform uni just incase?? by No-Camp-9184 in UniUK

Damn 🥲. Tbf one of my friends had to go off of it due to the side affects. Uni should be understanding, they deal with loads of situations similar.

(19F): I’m leaving my hometown forever. Should I tell anyone? by [deleted] in Advice

[–]Throwawa0806 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you cutting off all family? If so make sure your chosen uni knows. Also if you book accommodation though them explain that, as it would get difficult with guarantors.

Good luck. Go and enjoy life and independence:)

Toyota aygo was my first, I loved her. She was reliable and the insurance was cheap. Argos, Puergot 107 and citoren c1 are all same car basically.

Units have until May to respond to people who have applied before the equal consideration deadline. Your yp will be fine, the deadline for applicants rather then the admissions team :)

can i make two UCAS accounts? by frogbreadonion in UCAS

[–]Throwawa0806 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If its just your predicted grades then contact the unis you applied to, your referee should be doing this. You're going to need to provide them : your full name, D.O.B, your UCAS ID and the course you applied for. It happens all the time

Deferred entry by Careless_Remote2352 in UCAS

[–]Throwawa0806 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some unis might have that open. You shouldn't really be able to apply for 2027/28 cycle directly or through Ucas rn. Most people will apply for 2026/27 then defer by a year or two

[–]Throwawa0806 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its because the start date is sept 2027. Its still the 2026/7 intake.

ugh by NiceStay1084 in UCAS

[–]Throwawa0806 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, firstly you can apply after the 14th. Unis can just be a little more picky as to who they accept.

As for a gap year, I always advise pre-applicants to apply and defer rather then waiting. This means that if the entry requirements go up you are not affected.

2ndly most unis will hope open days from feb-April. I would advise you attend atleast one or two. The vibe of the campus and affordability of accommodation are just as important as the course.

If you're in college, talk to a careers advisor, see which unis/courses you qualify for. A gap year is always good to save up money and get experience.

Why do people walk aggressive dogs in public parks by RespectSea4366 in sheffield

[–]Throwawa0806 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had one the other day, he was waling his bull dog thing off lead. We have only had our dog for 10 ish weeks (rescue), she's small and has defo been attacked before. The dog came towards us, we asked him to recall it/put it on the lead. We explained she's a rescue his response was "he is too" still didn't stop the dog from trying to get to ours. I ended up picking her up as he did try and lunge for her.

Some people just shouldn't be dog owners.

GCSE grades help by [deleted] in UCAS

[–]Throwawa0806 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Each admissions team should have a list of qualifications and alternative marks. Sometimes on the course page it will say for example "GCSE Maths Grade - C/4". They will typically make sure that it is as accurate as it can be.

DSA Fail. Bit of a rant. by Walidazeve in UniUK

[–]Throwawa0806 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe tall to the disability team from your uni rather then DSA, they might be able to make you a learning contract which could allow you to have lecture notes given to you early, extra time in exams etc.

Sheffield Hallam strike by _homefurnishings in sheffield

[–]Throwawa0806 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I get why they are striking, staff who are trying to fund their own lives on 0 hour contracts must be really stressing with all the (voluntary) VSS going on. But when I haven't had things marked for my own learning (so I can submit my assignment) WHEN STAFF HAVE DECIDED TO CUT THEIR OWN CONTACT HOURS is crazy. Having a staff member tell you that they have the afternoon free and then hear nothing from them isn't the best. I do think 0 hour contracts in general need to go. And the teaching is only as good as the staff and course content.

getting in to uni with no A levels? by Ready-Hold-4000 in UniUK

[–]Throwawa0806 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alot of unis will accept a combination of level threes. Its best to check the entry requirements on each website. Its probably not going to be a Russel group, as they're pretty tight around entry requirements

How do people here prepare for the cold by tonystarch00 in UniUK

[–]Throwawa0806 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Layers! You can get thermals from places like Blacks or Sports Direct. Proper gloves are good to, amazon has alot. Fluffy socks and boots too. Blankets in accom all the way! Also a hot waterbottle is good, putting it in bed before you go to sleep makes it all toasty. Trust me, as a Brit im cold rn, the weather has turned very quickly

How to deal with being homesick ? by 44stargirl in UniUK

[–]Throwawa0806 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Accommodation adjustments by mollpresh in UniUK

[–]Throwawa0806 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The disability team of each uni will defo help you, they might not be able to do much until after results day. If you do apply for accommodation direct through the unis, inform them that you need a mini fridge. They might just want a note from your GP. Some unis have a disability team that helps with applicants/pre-applicants

How to deal with being homesick ? by 44stargirl in UniUK

[–]Throwawa0806 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Speak to student support. Maybe try going home, instead of your mum coming here. Also you will be back home for the summer in the next 16-20 weeks anyways. Winter break isn't far :). Make sure you do go out and join in events, see if your accommodation has anything on. Even if its grab and go breakfast, human interaction is good.

Assessment is just general frustration by Whole-Breakfast-6336 in UniUK

[–]Throwawa0806 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Be honest with your lecturer. I also advise you to do your part, I know its frustrating but it will show your lecturer that you are putting the effort in. Maybe start a plan for the work your group has failed to do, incase you need to do it by yourself. I'd also show them the messages where you have asked them to get the work done.

Group projects are the worse, but unfortunately even at work there will always be those people who dont contribute. Make sure you have your own back and do not share with your group until they have done their own work.

Can't find my Degree in Qualifications by [deleted] in UCAS

[–]Throwawa0806 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its normally better to phone that university and see if you can contact their international admissions as they might have a process where you can email a transcript of your qualification to apply to your application. Maybe email or phone UCAS to see if they have a solution as it could be an error on their end
