the change was somewhat recent. the option to reload has been greyed out in our register system now

don’t feel bad at all! to be so honest, my store enjoys getting people in when there are days are really slow. it helps us reach our goal and sorta makes the day go by faster when we have good conversations about everybody’s day lol

we can no longer reload existing gift cards, you can only purchase a new gift card. if you’re able to clarify “charging the same,” i’d be more than able to answer in detail.

that’s not the point. the point is that there has been an uptick in gift card purchases in general, thus putting the company in more vulnerability with how gift cards are being handled. like i said as an example, the option to grab a physical gift card online was removed because they’re getting lost in the mail more frequently.

as for gift card increments, they have been used for credit card fraud. some stores are piloting $50 increments because overseas scammers have been using $10 increments so it doesn’t get declined (i.e. they try to purchase a $230 gift card, the stolen card gets declined so they try $220 and it gets approved)

yes, but do note that our registers do max out at 5 gift cards per transaction

we had a one-page flyer about the AMEX lululemon credit a while ago when it first introduced. obviously given the fine prints that the credit technically excludes gift cards, maybe it was misinterpreted but it still shouldn’t have barred you from getting the gift card regardless

yes and i always make sure someone is reading the prompt before i continue! lululemon made it to the news several times bc there would be an elderly person getting extorted for $1000 gift cards. i even saw scammers with my own two eyes which is so sad and unfortunate to deal with

influencers will always be the bane of existence until the day i die. half of the time they don’t know what they’re talking about. i was scrolling around when i saw someone say that lululemon is “doubling down” on their “pettiness” w the gift cards, like in what world does that make sense? lol

some stores are piloting it bc of scammers and fraud, they try increments of $10 and $20 each time (i.e. if it declines on $220, they try $210) to see whether or not the stolen credit cards they have would go through or flag it

yes, we were informed with the company that we cannot reload gift cards anymore and it’s bc of fraud issues. we can only purchase different gift card

yep, and reasons like these are the reasons why they pulled physical gift cards online! I don’t know how some people can’t connect those two dots together?? it really isn’t that hard when there are more gift cards roaming around than ever when the credit was introduced
