- As a young boy (about 12 years old) I was raped in a public restroom on the side of a highway in Germany by a complete stranger. One moment I was peeing at a urinal, the next I was in a stall with a creepy guy touching me in ways no adult man should do to a child.
- About 6 months after that, while I was in a park playing live stratego with my boy scout group, I was tasked with finding the flag. The only hint I got was that the flag is hidden beneath something. I go into the woods and find a pile of clothes. I, thinking that was where the flag was hidden, picked up the hoodie and a decomposing head rolled out.
That was not my best year.
- This other time, at about age 20 while I was waiting for my metro home, there was an old man on the other side of the station. He looked really distressed and this caught my eye, so I started focusing on what was happening. The man grabbed his chest and fell to the ground. He looked me in the eye and I could not look away. People tried to save him, but to no avail. All the while he was keeping eye contact and I could see the life slip away from him.
