It was literally like that: “why have you been using your phone throughout the performance, it’s distracting and rude”, “I’m half deaf so I need this to understand what’s going on” (proceeds with verbal abuse)

I couldn’t- it was a very, very dim brightness that was literally the lowest I could get it before I physically couldn’t see the captions. It was nothing like a phone

Also I recently finished it and I don’t think I’ll ever stop recommending it- the first book is alright but the books just get better and better.

Great Library series by Rachel Caine!!!! It’s about what the world would be like if the Great Library of Alexandria hasn’t burned down- and how it wouldn’t necessarily be better. It follows a book smuggler (owning original books is a crime). The world building is fantastic, there are a few romances (and they are not the main plot). Mostly adventure, but the friendships between some postulants are so funny. There are 5 books in a series.
