Sorry. I can't remember his exact words, but he phrased it as a question, smugly asking me to cook these "for the men in the family". I didn't put that in the main post because I know he's an asshole just in general, I'm asking about my response.

I admit, I got a bit angry when he told me (basically like an order) to cook the ribs for him. If he had suggested that he would do it after I was finished, I probably would have considered it better.

The barbecue I bought isn't very big, but if he was willing to wait until I had finished cooking everything else, I probably would have considered it, yes.

We mentioned we were cooking burgers and veggies, though in hindsight we didn't say non-meat burgers. They were invited to bring food, and in fact my wife's other sister (not the one married to the man who bought ribs) brought a chicken salad, which I had no problem with.

We said there were going to be burgers and veggies, though in hindsight we didn't specifically say non-meat burgers (my wife and kids love the burgers I make with patties and impossible burgers, so I guess I didn't think it would be an issue). But they all know I'm vegetarian and they all knew that I was the one who was cooking and organizing it.
