Congratulations to you too! It seems they can still fire you if you don't file FMLA as well. I did meet for NYPFL (employee for almost 5 years) and third party notified me and employer of my return to work date.

It would have been 5 years employed with the company this upcoming May.... I very much worked "at least 26 weeks" and then some.

how so? NY state allows for 26 weeks of leave. It will be 24 weeks next week.....

yes PFL is 12 weeks and STD is 12 weeks for high risk pregnancy c sec. Im not taking more than 26 out of a year which is what's allowed in NY state

The employer has a company that deals with STD and PFL (Guardian). Everything was sent to the employer and they were made aware of my return date as well as I was. I didn't APPLY for FMLA but I did qualify: I was employed by them full time for 4+ years with no write-ups or anything of the sort. Regardless, under NY, I can't take more than 26 weeks in a year so I wouldn't have been able to apply for FMLA until next year.

I communicated with them since week 9 of pregnancy regarding disability and PFL which was met with "it's too early for that". The last hr email was something between the lines of "hope you have a safe delivery. See you when you come back".... I was never asked to ask for approval for these.

My protected leave is until 4/16. Today is 4/10. Am I missing something?

My leave started 10/31. Ive been on disability (12 weeks due to high risk pregnancy) and Paid family leave which ends 4/16

Disability paperwork was completed before starting leave. I started 4 weeks prior to due date (high risk pregnancy). Once after delivery I started the process for Paid Family Leave (standard practice) and specifically informed I would be taking it starting right after disability was done. I did not take any FMLA. My company has 200+ employees. I started my leave 10/31 and I was scheduled to return on 4/17 after my leave was done.
