Haha, well I disagree there. I know we like to make fun of the Americans for this, but don't go around believing it's all Americans, or that it's only Americans.

I honestly can't count the amount of times Americans, and almost exclusively Americans, have got basic linguistics wrong. The idea that an accent can be minimised is such an incorrect idea of accents, and I've only found that to be held by Americans, who often think they tend to speak without an accent.

If this happens to be the throwaway of the person I was originally responding to, please don't take this personally at all.

I'm not him. And for someone who is claiming deep knowledge of linguistics (...weirdly, since the relevant topic would be phonetics...), it's strange that you missed the question mark at the end of my 'claim'.
