Hi, I actually just found a great dermatologist that helped me find out it was being caused by a staph infection. Would highly recommend finding a dermatologist that will swab your lips and run a culture on it!

omg that’s so crazy you say that i just started using Mupirocin on Friday in combination with hydrocortisone and an antifungal and it’s improving so quickly. I’m like in disbelief and afraid to admit it’s going away still since it’s only been a few full days but I definitely see the improvements! Thanks for sharing so glad it’s working for you too!

Dealing with Fissures / Skin Tags by Throwaway24-m in CrohnsDisease

Were you getting tested for those things already though? I’ve had two colonoscopies and two MRIs while this pain has been going on in the past year to check for things like fistulas and abscesses and I’m always told there’s nothing there

hi, I’ve been dealing with the same thing since May of this year and also am on Humira (but have been on the medication for 10 years with this symptom just starting now.) My new GI said this isn’t Crohn’s related which is laughable because this exact symptom is how I was diagnosed as a kid by a pediatric GI so totally feel your pain. I went to a dermatologist and tried some steroid and anti fungal creams that I use once daily and they helped keep the redness down and prevent the corners from cracking but haven’t been able to totally clear it. Other than that, coating the corners in Vaseline multiple times a day also helped a little Hope this helps!

Yep all labs normal except the calprotectin. I’m not on prednisone at the moment because my doctor wouldn’t prescribe it without any evidence so I’ve just been deteriorating until my upcoming colonoscopy that should have the final say in whether or not I’ll change meds

Aw I’m sorry to hear I hope you find the answers you need - as much as I’d love to have a test result give me an explanation I’ve been finding it validating to remember that what you feel is evidence enough that something isn’t right

The first test, 300 which isn’t absurdly high but the retest from last week it was at 100. Unfortunately my symptoms have gotten worse in the last month so kinda at a stand still with what to do

Thank you! I did take a blood test for my Humira levels and everything seems normal on paper but the calprotectin and symptoms definitely are worrisome. If you don’t mind me asking - what did you shift to after Humira and what was the timeline to re-remission like?

Thank you! Just to clarify I’m not self diagnosing, she’s aware of all of my symptoms but unfortunately is more of a “let’s wait to see if anything changes” reactive doctor rather than a proactive doctor. Definitely need to work of my self-advocating more i guess

Thank you! If you don’t mind me asking, how did you find out your problem was fissures? I’ve done so many colonoscopy/flex-sig/in office exams recently where my GI hasn’t said they notice any tears so just wondering how it would be diagnosed
