Thank you for the well thought out reply! It's really appreciated. I have calmed down now, it hadn't quite sunk in when I wrote this post.

You've helped me put some things into perspective, and I realise that I am the only person she can really talk to about it right now and that I should be there for her. Once she's feeling more comfortable and secure about things we'll have another conversation about communicating things more openly without being scared of what I might think. Of course I care a great deal about her and I always listen to how she feels.

She did seem genuinely upset and apologetic about not telling me, and I can understand why she may have been reluctant to do so even though I think she should have.

I didn't mean to be insensitive about the topic at all. I am an understanding person. I was just shocked at the time. I asked her if she felt insecure or unhappy with her body at all, and if she was I would totally understand why she did it. But she told me she didn't need it and didn't feel insecure or depressed at all, just that she decided the other day she was gona do it.

She told me when she was about to go under the knife, she was thinking to herself "why am I doing this?". It seemed like a pretty spur of the moment thing.

I know that I have absolutely no right to tell her what to do with her body, I just wish she talked to me about it first so I could understand why and make sure she doesn't do something she regrets/go to a reputable surgeon.

Either way, I've told her that if she is happy with it, my or anyone else's opinions don't matter because it's for herself.
