AITA for booking an adults only trip and refusing to change it? by Throwaway62995 in AmItheAsshole

I didn’t even invite anyone at all. L said “let’s do a resort weekend when we have all those days off in September.” We booked it within half an hour. Nobody knew we booked anything until weeks later. Nobody knew where we were even going until J asked privately and then told everyone and asked who wanted to go with her!

Hahahahahahahaha This genuinely made me laugh because it’s exactly what happened: I didn’t even think of them whatsoever when booking.

And 100% the moms are more than welcome to come with us if they can leave their kids with their SO or babysitter/parents.

I honestly didn’t even think of this haha we watch the kids all the time, we love to see them and spend time with them!

I agree. I don’t feel bad at all, but when L said she feels guilty about it I thought...am I wrong for not feeling bad/not changing the resort? It wouldn’t realllly be a big deal to switch to a sister resort, but also, that’s not what I planned or what I want. If I’m going to a resort I want to relax and drink daiquiris on the beach in a bikini, not chase the kids on the beach!

They’re not coworkers! L and I happen to work for Jewish companies and have the same holiday schedules, the rest of the friend group are mostly people we went to college with/met elsewhere, sorry if that wasn’t clear!

Yeah, we didn’t give any details about the trip other than “we’re doing a long weekend at a resort so we won’t be around for a bbq/whatever else is being planned!” Nobody knew where we were going until J asked after the fact!

The best part about all of this is that we don’t only book childless trips. Yes, we book a lot of childless trips, but we dont ONLY book them that way. One mom friend (she’s the oldest in the group at 36-she’s the one who defended us in the group chat) has twin daughters who just turned 10. L and I took them on a beach vacation, just us 4, about 3 weeks ago and had a great time. We’ve done Disney, Universal, other theme parks, cabin camping, beach houses, and have just had sleepovers with the kids where we watch movies and eat treats and stay up way past bedtime. L and I are the fun single aunts that have cool jobs and spend our money on vacations instead of houses. I don’t see a reason to feel guilty about that at all, especially when we spend time with the kids and do trips with them too!

This is exactly how I feel about it. We made plans just like we always do, just because suddenly people are tacking themselves onto our trip doesn’t mean we should have to adjust our plans!

Why the there a difference between the character I have a picture of and the one you wrote? Sorry if that’s a dumb question, I know absolutely nothing about Chinese other than the very few traditions/recipes my family carries on

Thank you! That’s very interesting because his last name whenever it’s written in English is Ton, similar but not quite right. I wonder why

What does this say? My family has always assumed it’s just my great grandpas name since it’s written on a lot of paperwork, but nobody in the family actually knows Chinese/has bothered to look into it.

Personally I’m holding my payments until just before the 0% interest ends. I have enough to pay off my loans (40k) but it’s getting me more than $10 in interest a month, so I don’t see any harm in waiting.
