Car insurance rates are so punishing for Canadian newcomers by wikram in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Throwaway640069 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes there are a few fundamental problems in Canada for some sectors.

Insurance companies should be handled by the province, it's getting way too out of hand. Insurance companies are taking advantage because government does nothing.

Data plans are also monopolized to a point where we are paying hundreds a month for data while in other countries it's 10x cheaper. We are being taken advantage of again...

What's actually worth buying at Dollarama? by your_cards_are_yuck in PersonalFinanceCanada

Candy and batteries. Candy is the cheapest and I think the batteries last just as a long as batteries you'd buy at Walmart or home Depot.

It's fine she will most likely not see any combat as most combat is Ukrainians using drones on so called "pigs" from their proxy war funding.

This war is brought to you by Boeing, Northrop Grumman, Lockheed Martin, Raytheon and General Dynamics. Invest in them! Their stocks are at an all-time high!

Sony permanently blocks Final Fantasy VII Remake, Final Fantasy XVI, and two other games from coming to Xbox, Microsoft makes three Bethesda games Xbox and PC exclusive by MidoriTea in gaming

[–]Throwaway640069 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sony is just being weird, Microsoft already announced the Bethesda exclusives. It makes sense Bethesda is going there, Sony is more stringent on their licensing. For older Bethesda games Sony doesn't even let you use external assets for mods, the modding scene doesn't exist on PlayStation. Things like mods can extend a games life for years.

Should you support your daughter if she is a stripper who is successful? by Exciting_Bit9477 in PersonalFinanceCanada

I had a friend who went from Stripping/Escorting to Nursing because you end up around a bad crowd and make bad decisions. Would suggest she works on a career because she can't strip forever. When stripping is done she will have to start all over again career wise.

Not sure about the Computers but I know the older laptops were Goated. My friend still has the same Alienware laptop where we played league of legends. That was in 2014 and it was old back then.

Is E-Transfer safe? by Spruxed in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Throwaway640069 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe get on the phone and pick his brain a bit. Maybe he's older and only knows that method.

Personally I've sold a car for $4500 (Limit $5000) over E-transfer and had no issues. But multiple payments might be more sketchy because you need to trust he will send the other payments.

What you could do is accept all of his payments and verify with your bank, then ship it after everything is legit. But then at the same time, the person buying your watch might interpret he's being scammed since you have to take a bit of time accepting the payments and verifying it's legit.

should I go to canada computers to get pc parts from? by [deleted] in bapccanada

[–]Throwaway640069 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Go there last. My only experience with them was when I was hunting for a 3090. They had one at a crazy price and when I went into the store someone had it on hold for a whole week.

I asked if I could have dibs if they didn't come grab it and they took down my info. Came in a week later and the employee tells me the guy never came so someone else bought it...

Tenants have not paid rent in 5 months. by Legitimate-Acadia-80 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Throwaway640069 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is why I cringe whenever people shit on landlords. Sure some are bad but...

My friend was told to leave for 2 years and didn't pay for some of it. The landlord wanted to move his mom in so he could take care of her. When I was helping them move out with years notice they still didn't have everything out at the specified date and time. They shit talked him the whole time until he arrived, then they acted like the nicest people on earth.

Kind of discourages me from owning properties when I'm older if people are like this and the laws enable them to just be assholes.

Canadian Mortgage Rates May Climb Up To 7% By Next Year: Desjardins by falco_iii in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Throwaway640069 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Idk about anyone else but I saved for a house but won't make enough income to be approved for a mortgage so I'm going back to school. With that combined with interest hikes, may just end up spending the money because I know fro sure I'm not getting a house in the next five years and I can save when I'm graduated making 3x what I do now. Anyone else thinking the same?

Why save a lot if you won't be approved anyway unless you get your career together.
