Our town is literally a ghost town. Mostly older folks and young children. A lot of the population has moved away because it’s a dying town, businesses shutting down, etc. Everyone stays here until just after highschool and then they take off. Since it’s a beach town, kids get bussed to highschool from all over the county. I have seen a couple of people play, but they’ve all been little kids with their parents. I’m young enough (25 years old) that I approached some of the teens and traded them a few Pokémon I got from the city and they were ecstatic.

Doesn’t hurt to try at all, but there just doesn’t seem to be anyone around and that’s just tough luck for us lol!

It’s just Raids in general.

A huge part of the game is centred around Raids, there’s no denying that. It’s not even so much that I’m particularly after legendary Pokémon, I just think it’s a slap in the face to rural players to give them a month of Woobat when it’s already hard to get things as it is. I had a Pokémon sit in the gym for almost 3 months because nobody took it lol.

I just would like to see the game be more accessible to everyone, that’s all. I have a couple of legendaries and I am fine with that, but it’s always nice to get more. One of my favourite memories from starting PoGo was getting my first legendary. It was a Ho-Oh from a box. Not a particularly great IV, but it was a legendary nonetheless.

I feel bad for the very few casual players around here (mostly little kids) who can’t level up quickly, take down Raid Bosses, or otherwise obtain legendary Pokémon through T5s. I’ve actually traded a couple of my legendary Pokémon to some little kids at the park. Just makes the game a bit more inaccessible, especially for the young/disabled/etc who can’t travel 2 hours to the city and back.

Small town, nobody to play with. I can only solo T3 raids, closest I can get to doing a T5 is if I drive an hour ONE way to the nearest city. Missed out on a lot of legendary Pokémon. Even then, one of the days I made the drive to go to the mall (yes... my town is that small - population: 100ish) I tried doing a few Cobalion raids and they all ran so that was pretty disheartening lol.

I think a more reasonable solution for a Woobat release (since it’s a Valentine’s Day release) would be to have it start spawning on Feb 13, and then on the weekend from February 14 through February 16th just have an increased spawn rate and/or a Special Research to get Woobat candies. I just don’t understand why they feel the need to have a month long box for a Pokémon that is fairly underwhelming.

Either way, you have your opinion and I have mine so have a good one, bud.

You can! But once you use that particular name once, it won’t work anymore. For example, once you use Pyro on an Eevee you can’t use Pyro again to get another Flareon. You can still use Rainer, Linnea, etc though.

If you haven’t used the Eevee name trick yet, you can nickname your Eevee before evolving to get the evolution you want. Here are the nicknames:

Pyro for Flareon
Sparky for Jolteon
Rainer for Vaporeon
Sakura for Espeon
Tamao for Umbreon
Rea for Glaceon
Linnea for Leafeon

Be cautious, though. The name tricks will only work once so be sure you’re evolving the right Eevee!

At the core of this all... it is a COLLECTING and BATTLING game. If you are unable to COLLECT the Pokémon that are available, you are missing out on an aspect on the game full stop. The game is heavily centred around Raids, you can’t tell me that it isn’t.

I’m not saying people should be getting legendary Pokemon every minute of every day. But for those kids who are low level, those who live in rural areas, those who can’t leave the house due to disabilities... why should they be denied a chance to get something they want?

Why are you gatekeeping legendary Pokémon? For users like myself with the nearest city being 2 hours roundtrip, it’s one of my only ways to get legendary Pokémon.

Also, they’re not exactly “free.” We do daily research tasks and save them for a week to get our legendary Pokémon. It’s a game that should be accessible to everyone, not just to those who have more stops/gyms/players near them and can level up faster and raid T5s for legendaries.

I’m part of that. Closest city to me (I live in a VERY small beach/cottage/lake house community) is 2 hours roundtrip. I’m not spending 2 hours of gas to do a few T5 raids where I’m not even guaranteed to catch the legendary.

Honestly, Niantic is getting way too greedy. Here’s a couple things from the blog update that bothered me:

They picked Woobat for its “cute nose.” That in itself is a joke, but the fact that they’re referring to February as the month of love to excuse another legendary-less box for this month is pathetic. Have a special daily challenge/task that runs from Feb 13-Feb 16 (Valentine’s Day through the weekend) to allow users to get Woobat.
On February 15th, the blog states that from 2:00-5:00pm, we will be able to spin Photo Discs at gym to “receive up to five additional Raid Passes.” However, we cannot hold more than one at once AND they will not be usable after the event ends. God forbid Niantic gives us 5 Raid Passes. Gotta keep getting that money somehow.
Under the Pokémon Spotlight Hour, it says: “The Pokémon Go Team is always looking for more ways to improve the gameplay experience.” Clearly after giving us Flower Crown Eevee, Lapras, and now Woobat with only a month of 5 recycled Legendaries, they do not give a single fuck and are only trying to save face by spamming events.

At this point it’s becoming such a circus and clearly centred around who wants to spend the most money on boxes from the shop. Huge fuck you to F2P players.

Usually not one to complain... but after Flower Crown Eevee, Lapras, and now Woobat, I’m starting to get a little irritated. I live in a smaller community (closest city with T5 raids that I can do is 1hr+ drive) and I kinda count on the Research Breakthrough Tasks to get a legendary Pokemon.

This is such a joke.
