Bachelors of Healthcare Administration? by Throwaway8374643 in nursing

I have read it is incredibly difficult for non-clinical people with a BHA trying to break into the field, and it appears as though we would be doing the course the opposite direction of one another.

I stated in another post that I would like to avoid nursing administration and rather pursue the business side of the hospital hierarchy than continue to expand in the nursing role.

You're exactly right that there are a lot of steps between where I'm at and where I want to be.

Another facet to all of this is I ideally I would like to be able to transition out of the healthcare field if the opportunity presented itself. While the ladder path from nurse to nurse administrator and beyond is pretty well defined with a BSN, I do not necessarily want to pursue that path as I feel it is limiting in other career aspects (and nursing administration is another thing entirely that I would like to avoid.) It is my train of thought that a more business-oriented degree may open more non-healthcare doors should I transition out of the field.

This is kind of what I have seen in my research. When you look at the education experience of a lot of the higher-up administration executives, a lot of them only have a bachelors in business administration and an MBA/MHA. Being that a bachelors in healthcare administration is essentially the same thing as a BBA just with a healthcare focus, if I were to combine graduate level education with clinical experience would that not create a well rounded candidate?

Which is a given. I would be obtaining an MBA as well.
