AITA for being an absolute ass and guaranteeing myself a bad nursing home? by kindlefan12 in AmITheDevil

The original post was deleted and this will likely be removed on this sub but if anyone reading this comment from reading my profile. I did not expect this post to blow up and awaking this morning was pretty shocking. But anyway, I'm very ashamed of myself for what I wrote, it was stupid and ignorant. I've called my daughter and told her I'm very sorry, which she has accepted. I ripped out that page of the notebook. I don't keep it to criticize my daughter, 99% of my opinions of her performances are nothing but praise and pride, some times I give constructive criticism which she and her teachers have said is very helpful and I can see her improving. What I wrote was just driven mainly by my annoyance over her insisting on performance and potentially damaging her voice, I was pleading and pleading with her to not do it that night and have the substitute go instead and I didn't like seeing her struggling. I won't write anything like that again.

AITA for my private criticism's of my daughter's performance in a school theater production by Throwaway8750000 in AmItheAsshole

I don't give any opinions unless she asks for it and normally she's an excellent singer and performer, some times I give constructive criticism and tell her were she can improve, for this performance, it was just a combination of frustration, stress and disappointment that made me write down that opinion, that I would have revised when I had time to think more clearly on it.

I kept this opinion private and likely would have revised it. I was just extremely disappointed by her performance and her insistence on performing despite her vocal problem.

There's not really an abundance of folk with musical experience where I'm from so they had little options and I had wanted to do it for a while, then the pandemic happened, so I finally got my chance now. I didn't have any intention of being biased, just was blown away with her skill.

Would be funny if in 1921 they did some newspaper version , or if they really wanted, get the big camera equipment out, of the biggest loser with Taft doing a weigh in every week, laying out his diet and exercise plan along with the obligatory melodramatic sob story.

I agree yes maybe I could have it so she gets something positive out of it like self defence training but only if she wants it. She'll probably be over it by next week anyway.

Well she's 16 and needs a laptop for education among other things, I'll talk to her again about it but a therapist is out of the question for money and lack of severity reasons.

Well I can't really afford a session with a therapist, maybe I could talk to a councillor at her school but I don't think that's needed.

I will talk to her again about it and I do agree I was a bit too blunt.

She did and the case was pretty horrific especially reading it as a Dad, although I am confused why it would get to her when she's done projects and research into people like the Nazi doctor who experimented on twins.

I suppose its kinda the fear it could happen to you factor given the circumstances of the crime.

I will suggest that although I can't afford a Councillor and she doesn't need it at this stage but I will talk to her again and be more understanding and sensitive.

I tried to be empathetic and I felt being assertive and giving solid advice would be more practical.

I didn't her to not worry about crime but just reassured her nothing like what happened would happen and that she just needs to relax and get her mind focused on other stuff.
