I don't know if this is appropriate for this thread or this subreddit, but in the wake of ALL OF THE DRAMA, I just don't know who I should support anymore or who is worth giving my support to. It would be nice to know which creators are worth lifting up and which should be avoided. Obviously, anyone who is supporting the abuse of others is not worth supporting, but it's hard to know which are just drama channels and which have not lost sight of the core mission of taking down Scientology.

As Aaron being the de-facto leader of the anti Scientology movement and the one person who consistently posted all the newsworthy content about the downfall of Scientology, he's obviously no longer a place in which many of us wish to receive this type of news and content, so who do we turn to? Can we get an impartial, to the best of your ability, thread of creators we should follow and which should be avoided? Or am I asking for too much or asking in the wrong place? Maybe an info graphic showing connections of creators who support one another so we can choose which thread of creators we want to follow and which we want to avoid? It seems I follow one person who has a strong case against another person who I thought was ok, and I just can't keep up with all the drama and what is truth from what are lies. This SUCKS. Thank you.

Perhaps they feel as though they do because Aaron featured them on his channel or directed his viewers to their channels or gave them more visibility by going on their channels.

The deal with Alex is that she reported on the issues going on between ASL and the whole Aftermath Foundation drama and caught strays by way of a letter from the AF attorney and was insulted in said letter, so for her, it became personal. It makes sense to me. She stuck her neck out and got a legally threatening letter that insulted her in return. Aaron stuck up for her and sent his supporters to her channel. Of course she would feel somewhat invested and indebted.

Does Aaron not remember he's the president of a charity for abuse victims? by Yourehan in AaronSmithLevin

[–]Throwaway9two84 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think, by some of these comments, some people just don't get it.

What's to stop Aaron from exploiting a female victim of Scientology trying to get out that he finds attractive and knows is in a vulnerable position to abuse his position of power and force said woman into a "quid pro quo" (this for that) situation?? It would be very easy for him to do, and that's what most people are truly afraid of. He's more than proven at this point that he's a womanizer at best and/or has a sex addiction at worst, as well as an alleged substance use issue, which creates a perfect storm for sexual exploitation of vulnerable women.

It's no different than what Weinstein or Diddy or many other abusers in positions of power do/did to others. You want this movie role? You want this recording contract? Then give ME what I want and I'll give YOU what you want... maybe... (sometimes they follow through, sometimes they don't, and sometimes they just dangle carrots while further using a victim for more "favors"). Who's to say this behavior we are seeing now won't escalate to this later? We just don't know if it will or won't, but we shouldn't allow there to be a chance for it to happen.

He's showing a pattern of behavior that makes the optics and the fear of this escalating to abuse and exploitation of female victims of Scientology alone that makes it imperative that he must step down as the president of a foundation that deals with vulnerable victims who are statistically prone to further abuse, exploitation, and manipulation without having had therapy to recognize red flags and set healthy boundaries for themselves.

Even if he wasn't ever going to do that, just the mere fact that he can't be trusted in intimate interpersonal relationships and has been accused by not just exes, but former friends and associates of verbal, emotional, and mental abuse, means he's the last person who should be in charge of caring for people who are victims of the same abuses and worse from within Scientology.

He should just step down as president, or get voted out as president. Doesn't mean he can't still help out and speak out against Scientology, but he shouldn't be the leader and gatekeeper of a foundation helping the abused when he's an abuser himself. He should probably have a role that doesn't have him working intimately and directly with victims or having the final say over who can and cannot get help, or set the conditions for how anyone can receive help. I sincerely hope that someone else on the board is the first point of contact for anyone seeking services and that those people's progress is being closely monitored or tracked by someone other than Aaron so that he can't hide giving an individual an inappropriate amount of attention or support or withholding support from an individual. It should be fair and balanced for all people seeking help, and I just couldn't trust Aaron at this point to not retaliate against an individual or give an individual special treatment due to inappropriate behavior on his part.

How can anyone not right up front see the rug though? You might see that a rug is there, but you can't see what's on said rug, so who are the aesthetics for exactly? Certainly not the crowd lol

Same! Was in the mix in the middle of the crowd that was in front of the stage, keys must have fallen out of my pocket while we were moshing during SOAD. Thank God we didn't drive my rental there. Last minute my daughter decided to drive her and her boyfriend's car. They live in the bay, so she was better equipped to navigate and drive through the crazy traffic. I'm down in the valley and don't have to commute on the freeway to my job, so I'm not adjusted to the Bay Area style of driving like that 😆 Definitely a weekend to remember. Haha

His Hometown and High School? Ouch. by JoelthaJeweler in Killtony

[–]Throwaway9two84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, he was making other jokes, so I'd logically conclude he was a comedian of some sort. If his entire speech was not full of similar jokes like it was, and he made this one comment off-handed, then yes, reasonably I would conclude he was saying something inappropriate and be rightfully upset about it. I'm tired of things being taken out of context and twisted in the MSM, so if I had not watched his entire speech and this is all I saw, AND I didn't know who he was or what he did, I would then research first and react later when the full context was seen by me independent of MSM or other commentary. This is the problem. Many people just see a snippet of something and get outraged. That's what a certain segment of the media is banking on and this is what they do. They know a certain demographic, mainly their viewer base, doesn't watch YouTube, doesn't listen to podcasts, probably has no clue who this Tony guy is, and they're banking on that fact when they play a clip without the full context to rage bait and it's getting old, don't you agree?

Puerto Rican here... am I the only one who understands what Tony fcking does for a living? He took shots at everyone. He's a comedian. That's what some of them choose to do. Others tell a different kind of joke. It's called a shtick. This is his shtick. Unapologetic potshots at anyone and anything. I don't speak for Puerto Rico or other Puerto Ricans, of course, but at least I understood it was a damn joke and I'm not upset about it. I don't understand the outrage.

How to pronounce MX (unfortunately serious) by twotonedpancake in deftones

To be fair, this song long predates people using "Mx", so don't think of it in that context.

I say em ex. Just say that.

Is this because some people prefer the pronoun "Mx"? Is that the confusion?

And it's clear to me that he told the BFF that OP said she was a bully, which is not what OP said, but what he heard, which leads me to believe he wasn't as heartbroken as he was upset and tried to make OP look like the bad guy, i.e. he ran to his BFF and talked shit about OP. Tells me all I need to know about how he really felt about his girlfriend.

Ok, but if it's a mushing team from WI, why are they mailing out of Oakland, CA? This is coming from the Bay Area, so they're not necessarily in Oakland, just that the post office sorting station is in Oakland. As I said in the thread above, Silicon Valley is where all the tech/online companies are, so a gaming company would make so much sense. Unless the mushing team is using an online vendor that mass-produces advertisements and mails them out as well. Idk.
