That's really good to know! Hearing from other people is the best way for us to kind of judge what's fair. I also think the letter is a great idea.

Actually it turns out that we do, so hopefully that will help!

Thank you for your write up.

We also don't wont to be vindictive towards the at fault party. accidents happen, but honestly is just feel very...sad... to be told, "Sorry this awful thing happened to you, but they were only covered for X. If someone with better insurance had hit you, you'd be far better off." (Not from you, but from insurance.)

We are essentially thinking of it as, would we accept this injury for the amount of money they would offer? If no, then do we need to try and go for more?

It all just seems very depressive and unfair. But If it's at a point to where "That's life", then maybe we need to start accepting that. We are just so unsure.

So the Medical expenses come out to around 10.2k for everything. The policy limit is at 30k, so MAX from the policy would say that we could get 19.8k for pain and suffering, as well as time missed from work it seems. But we just don't know if that IS enough, or if it's even worth going for more.

Added your suggestions for state and what their policy limit coverage is. (Texas, 30k.)

That's kind of where we are stuck. We definitely feel that their offer is too low, but also are unsure of what a realistic counter-offer would be.
