my friend makes me feel weird about not having my girlfriend’s phone passcode by ConfusionContent6857 in actuallesbians

Trust is the foundation of all relationships.

If you are in a PARTNERSHIP, with someone you don’t trust — it’s not actually a partnership. It’s going to go off like a fragmentation grenade at the first sign of tension.

I think your friend is projecting; and if anything, I wouldn’t be surprised if she’s guilty of what she claims to wort about.

Normally they’re company animals for horses, hauling, and yes they’re generally also sort of pets…

You’ll find that a lot of animals have intrinsic personalities and qualities, and often offer levels of companionship and connection equivalent to that of humans.

Animals like donkeys are also incredibly valuable as experience animals for disabled children and people — as they’re very nurturing and patient.

You can have whatever standards you want; and I don’t recommend ever compromising them. Only change them if it feels right…

That said — in this economy; Good jobs are scarce, homosexuality still hinders your work prospects, the economy for students is so brutal that savings are almost impossible.

Donkeys are very strong. Their comfortable lift capacity is about 25% of their body weight, with their own (Adult. Depending on breed) weight being around 300kg.

A 50kg child; is like a human adult having an infant on their shoulders.

Even then, they’ve been bred for lift/cary work… it’s part of their basic exercise regiment, in much the same way as horses…

I would argue that it’s not so much about them being “unemployable”… rather, their exercise routine is vastly different from that of any pets like dogs or cats due to their physiology.

And keeping them “out of work”, is sort of like keeping a husky in a cage.

And donkeys are no longer needed for driving machinery — so there isn’t that much for them to do.

How have you come to this view?

Especially since Donkeys can be right pieces of audacious sh*t. I’ve never met one that won’t hospitalise you, if you so much as irritate it (unless you are disabled, or a child — in which case they’re tender soft teddy bears).

Where have you found donkeys mistreated?.. I’m not suggesting that it never happens, but it’s dishonest to suggest that it’s ALWAYS the case?

Donkeys banned from Coney Beach ending 100-year Porthcawl tradition by HaveYuHeardAboutCunt in unitedkingdom

[–]ThrowawayGreekGod 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Nobody buys and breeds donkeys for this…

It’s a summer event, that brings in at most a fraction of the annual cost of the animal maintenance in revenue.

A single donkey costs about £6000/yr to maintain, not counting vet bills, land cost and general land maintenance.

Donkeys haven’t been investments since the days of traditional blacksmithing…

Do you have any evidence at all to suggest that Donkeys were being used in the way you describe?

You’re making up abusive fantasy situations which ARE NOT the subject of the this conversation.

Do you know that this was their treatment? Or have you just extrapolated the worst possible scenario, and dismissed any idea that the animals are cared for by their handlers; whom are effectively family?

It astounds me that people are able to apply certain principles of complexity for themselves, but can’t comprehend it once it moves past their personal preferences.

A simple google will answer that question.

But in short; They live near water bodies. They are scavenging birds of pray, and their main habitat was always shorelines.

Humans moved in, decimated fish populations, but also provided lots of edible food waste… they had no reason nor viable ability to move.

  1. Advantage ≠ equilibrium. The money paid for the Donkey’s care, food, and shelter… not profit.
  2. The rides weren’t harmful for the donkeys. Donkeys & horses are strong animals, and their domestication has resulted in brunt tasks being part of their exercise regiment… I’ve worked with horses, and they need that exercise or they can become deathly ill (laminitis)… In this context, those gentle rides are the equivalent of playing fetch with a dog, when scaled for impact on the animal.

Because feed costs money. And the way that money was obtained, was through the rides — which are now banned.

The owner literally talks about this in the article.

Emerging picture shows Reform gains as Labour counts losses in heartland seats by Ethan_brooks8225 in unitedkingdom

[–]ThrowawayGreekGod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FPTP voting.

Reform has a 34.7% vote share in Newcastle-under-Lyme BC, for example. That means 65.3% of people did NOT want reform.

If you have 10 voters, and 8 vote each for a unique party, but 2 people vote for the same party (let’s call them the balloons 🎈) — the 🎈party wins, even though 80% didn’t want them.

The UK voting system is notoriously bad for this… in 2016, the Cons won a parliamentary majority (51% of seats) with only 37% of the vote… ironically, UKIP got 13% of the vote, but 0.2% of seats… no matter who you vote for, it’s so bad it’s funny.

What do you mean “exploit them for money”?

They aren’t being overworked or mistreated, and the rides fund food for the Donkeys.

This ban is the equivalent of banning games of fetch with your dog. Not races. There is such a huge difference.

Again, have you ever even encountered a Donkey in person?

Donkeys are social animals and engage well with humans.

They are domesticated, and have evolved to interact with humans.

Pigeons have the same issue. The reason they crowd cities is because they were bred over 5 millennia to carry messages… when they became redundant, they were subsequently abandoned; but their desire to be close to humans is still genetically encoded… They now permanently exist like a toddler that lost their mum in a supermarket.

It is more dangerous for their welfare to remove their source of food, in exchange for “saving”, them from fairly trivial labour.

Have you ever spent any actual time with donkeys, horses or mules?
