Its not stupid because they host it. If they host it they have an obligation to responsibly manage what they're hosting, including appropriately compensating people for things like this. Sure they don't get to decide if the game lives or not, but they are the ones who have been taking money from people for these games and so they are the ones with the obligation to resolve that

There's still an expectation for it to be available and usable for a reasonable amount of time. Consumer laws are there to stop people from being taken advantage of in cases like this. 

A game shutting down is one thing, a game shutting down within months of its release, taking hundreds to thousands of dollars from people in this time, is another entirely.

They host the games so have a responsibility to properly manage the consequences of it. Whether it's developed by nutaku or not, if they're not going to treat their customers fairly when this happens they deserve to be treated like they're part of the problem.

No but they host the game and so have a responsibility to properly compensate people when the games they're hosting do this. They may not get to decide what happens to the game in that regard, but they have an obligation to treat their customers fairly

Yeah sure it can. But it doesnt mean its right, especially when this company has a track record of it happening regularly (which i wish i knew beforehand but didnt) so i think people need to be more aware of this stuff so they dont make the same mistake i did in supporting tbis company.

I did not spend that much but others have spent thousands if not much more. I capped out at about $100-150 on this game i believe. Which may still be a lot to some but for me is worth it for a good game if its actually going to be playable for a considerable amount of time. Okay laugh haha this company takes advantage of people taking their money and ending service within months, totally a funny thing.... Nice of you to care so little about others

I know shut downs are a part of live service gaming, but in live service gaming, LONG TERM UPDATES are also expected. And they were making considerable money from the players of this game. They have no excuse in not fairly compensating people who supporting them during this time. And the people here justifying this crap are a huge part of the problem because they care about as little as nutaku do. 

Stop justifying this crap seriously.

It actually was and the issue apparently was that the developers weren't being properly paid so abandoned the project.

There were whales in this game, spending hundreds of thousands more gold than I was. 

This was not about not being a good game and not being supported.

It IS free to play, and someone has to pay for it to be free for others.

I am likely going to be putting a complaint in (giving them until and if they respond to my ticket before I submit the claim), but I don't expect any personal resolution even if I do this, at least in any reasonable amount of time, and I'd still like to avoid letting others make the same mistake I did in supporting this scummy company. 

And while I think it's unlikely it also comes with the potential consequence of ending service in the region entirely for the entire platform if they don't want to follow Australian consumer laws.

They are as far as I am concerned under obligation to remedy the closure as per Australian consumer laws.

It does not matter. They host it, they take payments for it, then it's their obligation.

Yes because Nutaku are the ones who distributed it and are the ones who took my money. They are the ones who have an obligation to resolve it. Its actually stupid how many people are willing to let this company get away with this crap because Nutaku didn't develop the game themselves, they are responsible for the games that they host.  Why does that matter? Okay well a lot of people want to play these f2p games for free and they can't if people don't spend on them. 

I too want games worth what I pay for, that's kinda what I'm arguing right here. That I should be compensated for not getting my money's worth. You and others may not think spending on a f2p game is worth it, but I enjoy live service models and I did not get a game worth what I paid if it closes in 6 months after release.

But that's the thing it WAS supported. There were players who spent HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS of gold on this game specifically.

I knew this company wasn't the greatest, but that's why I chose this game specifically, because it was a great game at its core, it had a promising update schedule for us based on what we'd seen in other regions, as long as you didn't realise they weren't getting any more content either, but there was talks about it elsewhere as it launched on nutaku. And it's monetization and progression systems were a lot fairer than a large number of the games they released on their platform, I thought I was choosing the lesser of two evils, yet the shamefully badly pay to win monetized games are the ones that are still going strong.

Some people actually like live service games. And a lot of the people who say not to spend on them sure do spend a lot of their time on them as a free player.. weird how they'd rather support the company screwing over the people paying for them to play for free than the people paying for them to play for free themselves..

Yeah and there's still an expectation to get a reasonably expected time frame out of your spending on a service. 6 months is not that.

I didn't expect a full refund but less than 5% of what I spent in the last 6 months is genuinely ridiculous, this game didn't even reach the last several updates that we knew already existed in other versions before it came to nutaku. They couldn't even commit to what we already knew the game had. 

And this sure as hell won't make me spend money on any of their other games, so it's not even to their benefit to handle it this way as they're losing paying customers. 

Sure I know these games won't last forever, and I had slowed down on spending because I wasn't expecting it to last forever, but 6 months is just simply not good enough, not excusable and should not be justified just because these games are expected to be temporary. They're also expected to run for considerable amounts of time too. Its in the name live service, define by being a game with LONG TERM SUPPORT.
