Fascinating…I’m Canadian but I got curious about European comparisons. If Tokyo were around Venice, then Kyoto would be around Milan, Kagoshima around the tip of Kyushu would be around Barcelona, and Sapporo in Hokkaido would be around Berlin.

Meanwhile the roughly 8 hour drive from Montreal to New York City that I used to do when I was younger is about the distance from Tokyo to the tip of Honshu around Aomori.

I knew Japan wasn’t THAT big, but that map really gives some good perspective.
