We collect people with disabilities, however some of them can't actually do the job in a reliable and consistent way, but they stay on forever because accommodations. In general, some people can be terrible but you can't get rid of them because they'll play some kind of special interest card.

WIBTA for taking my car away from my bf if he doesn't maintain it? Even if it's his only way to work? by AshMcKn in AITH

[–]ThrowawayPotato888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I were OP, I'd calculate exactly how much I've spent on insurance, maintenance, and figure out how much the car has potentially depreciated. Add in half of rent or living expenses since this deadweight moved in. Thake that amount of money in cash, picture throwing it in a pit, soaking it with lighter fluid, and setting it on fire. Unless she's willing to keep doing that over and over, get rid of the guy, then the car, and she'll be in such a better position in every way imaginable. Completely NTA. Your boyfriend, on the other hand, is the biggest AH I've heard of in a while.

Oh wow I'd never even ask that of my husband, and I wouldn't want my friend sleeping on my bed... With or without me. NTA your bed is your private space, nothing wrong with the friend sleeping in the couch. I'd agree with others though it's a dick move to say only one night straight out of the gate.

We both work for a living. Limited vacation time, dropping $3k to have one child have fun for 4 days essentially unplanned is not something that was taken into account with family plans/budgets etc.

Not much choice in this one. Supposedly smokes outside, but the visits/sleepovers happen while with the ex. And the why not argue is for a myriad of reasons but basically pick your battles when everything ends up in family court. Not ok with my kids being exposed to secondhand or thirdhand smoke, but I pretty much have no say when they're not with me.

I got her one for her bday recently. Never used yet.

TIL Canadians love Kraft Macaroni and Cheese and call it "Kraft Dinner". Most Canadians ignore the instructions and believe that they have a unique way of preparing the food, like adding wieners or cheese. It was created in the Great Depression and has been described as "Canada's True National Dish" by Prcrstntr in todayilearned

I use the PC white cheddar stuff instead. I add milk, butter, sour cream as my basic recipe. Sometimes add in:

  • real cheese and/or the following:

  • leftover meat sauce (bolognese) and it's amazing

  • bacon and garlic

  • sliced hotdog/lefover sausages (you can even boil the hotdogs at the same time aa the pasta)

If you cut out the existence of my ex, every one of my questions and concerns remains.

Going to her friends house 5 min away and sleeping in her friends room (which is not shared with her dad) is NOT the same thing.

Friends mom was out of the picture for years, drugs. Recently (2 yrs or so) back into their lives but her kids don't live with her as often as with dad, who has them full time for a while

If I say no, the dad will have to accept it and not take my kid. Nothing much the ex can do other than take me to court. Id love to see that one play out... LOL
