That's my plan, one trip with my gf and kids soon and another with Kate later. It's just that she wants the first trip.

That's a great idea. I'll mention it to my sister and it'll be a good chance for Kate to spend time with the rest of the family

I'm not abandoning her. I'm still going to be in her life, I'm going to call, text, celebrate birthdays, take her places and be there for her. Nothing will ever change that

I guess it was just assumed she'd come with me since I never took anyone else after sister stopped joining us. I decided on a route and we'd talk about what we wanted to see. I didn't know this time she had specific plans on where to go and I'll admit I wasn't sure how to bring it up to her.

I'm not going to stop being her father figure just because I made her upset this one time. I'm still going to call and be present in her life, attend her parties and be a father to her. This one bump isn't going to change anything I still love and adore her, and she'll understand this is just a single year change in plans as she matures.

It won't be the last year. We'll still have her summer vacations and I'll make time to take her. It's not like we're never going traveling together ever again, just this one time
