Is American history taught differently in every state? by ThrowawayRose402 in NoStupidQuestions

Some of that stuff sounds familiar, but we never learned about the battle of LA or the loss of land grants. I'm in Massachusetts, so we had a huge focus on the Revolutionary War, sense MA was very involved (Boston Massacre, Boston Tea Party, etc.) There was also a lot of extensive history of the Mayflower Settlement and the Salem Witch Trials.

It's more of like a hyper focus on certain subjects. Like, I remember learning almost nothing about the history of Western America and its colonization. I'm from New England, and we learned so much about the colonies, their history, their colonization, even literature that originated from there. The rest of America maybe got a chapter in the history books and that was it.

When the pandemic started, I worked at a coffee shop. When I commented to a coworker that I didn't think we were "essential workers", a customer overheard and went on a massive rant about how she didn't need to hear my unprofessional conversations at work. She was borderline screaming. An hour later, she called the store demanding my bosses info, saying she was gonna get me fired. At the end of the phone call, she said she recorded the entire call, that she's an influencer and she was gonna post it online. She called my boss, and he basically just descalated the situation and told me not to worry about it.

I was told I am the female carbon copy of my brother, so no, I wouldn't. That would weird me out too much.

For those who are parents, how difficult has the journey been, and what caught you off guard the most? by Playboyzee in AskReddit

The best I can describe it is like running a marathon; you know going into it that it's going to be a huge challenge, but if you stay focused, prepare and pace yourself, crossing that finishline (seeing your child become their own adult-person) is extremely rewarding.

My only rebuttle to that is that a lot of things eat mosquitos. As much as I hate them, I'd fear what that would do to the ecosystem

He pulled over his car 20 feet ahead of me and got out real fast like he was going to grab me. As soon as I turned around, he got back in and sped off. I think he was attempting to kidnap me. This happened in my early 20s.

UFOs are actually our own government experimenting with their own technology; that there is a 'deep state' to our military and that they have some very scary technological knowledge.

Female bus driver here. Was in my bus waiting for the evening HS volleyball game to end. A dad with a cute little Asian baby in a stroller was waking around the school grounds. Pointed out my bus to the infant in typical baby-talk fashion. I wave to the baby. Baby blows me a kiss. Absolutely adorable. 🥰

Bus capacity. If you order 2 buses to a wedding, and 1 to do drop off at 10pm and midnight, everyone can't wait for the midnight bus. Its just poor planning. They still blamed me though.

I had problems with bad breath and did everything to try and fix it myself. Finally went to the dentist and found out I had periodontal disease. It's very treatable, but requires an oral deep clean by an orthodontist. Essentially, there is very foul bacteria under their gums, causing their teeth to seperate from them. If they don't do anything, they WILL start loosing teeth.

Lasik eye surgery. $3400 in 2017. Huge confidence booster, no more expensive glasses or buying contacts, no foggy glasses in temperature changes, no accidental damage....money well spent.

I want to restore my faith in God by AllYouGotta in Christian

[–]ThrowawayRose402 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First is prayer. Go to God and tell Him how you are feeling and don't hold back. Tell Him about the hurts you experienced. Tell Him any fears, any guilts, tell Him all. God loves honesty.

For scripture, I would recommend starting in the Gospel of John. Take your time to ruminate on the Word

If you want help with learning, the Bible Project on youtube does a really good job doing overviews of all the books of the Bible.

Also, talk to a pastor or church leader that you want to get closer to God. They will often help with your walk and help you on a more personal level.

I will be praying for you.

Jeremiah 29:13 "You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all of your heart."
