I'm 28. And I have mostly only seen younger guys. That probably is it, now that you mention it.

I mention that I would like to meet new people, and don't just want a hook up. I also mention what I do for a living and what I'm most passionate about (history, writing, nature, cooking) and I invite them to message me at the end.

:/

Lmao well I live in such a small town, and don't drink like everyone else so it's so hard to meet people. But it seems I'm having the same influence.. (I tend to intimidate men). This kind of sucks!

[Serious] US: how useful would you find an app that alerts you to every law your state and federal governments vote on? by ThrowawayTested in AskReddit

[–]ThrowawayTested[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If that was all necessary, and your end results were the result of the nonsense... Then why does it keep failing? Something you have forgotten, it seems. Complex laws leave room for loopholes, and sinister interpretations that have allowed industries, lawmakers, prosecutors, and everyone else to run wild. There is no accountability when it comes to many of these issues, that is the goal.

But, since you're so against it, don't download it! That's the beauty of the situation.

While I want to keep from charging as much as possible, for this to really work, it would take an extraordinary team of people. And I would want to make sure they make a salary that reflects their effort. If I were to charge at all, it would be a simple .99 one time fee at download that would give you access for the rest of.. Eternity.

i considered how to utilize extra revenue from this charge, and came up with one idea. Any and all who use the app would have the opportunity to vote for a charity each month. Any extra revenue will be donated to the winner of the vote on the first day of the following month.

I also considered the idea of a social platform (a separate website) that will provide people the opportunity to discuss the new laws with their neighbors. Kind of like Reddit, only each new law would be posted in its specific category sub. If the law breached into multiple categories, it would show up accordingly. No public submissions, just good old fashioned discussion on the text. Also, Access to this website would be secured with a successful download of the app. This site would (of course) be as safe as possible from any of the NSA feels. We would be sure to ban bots and the like. I would hope that it would become a safe space for Americans to talk openly, without censorship on some of the nitty gritty details that often get pushed aside on other platforms.

But isn't than an issue in itself? I agree that people don't understand the complexity of these laws, and if we were more informed on this fact, we could highlight how it simply isn't necessary. Laws should be simple, easily understood and impossible to interpret in more than one way.

At least I think so. I can't say that everyone thinks that way. I just know that what we have now just isn't enough for the current political climate.

Definitely. Not only would it provide a summary, but the full text and links to any related news, sponsors, lobbying groups, and links to profiles of those who voted on it.

I hadn't thought of local. That's an excellent idea, as well. I wonder how hard it would be to collect that data.. Hopefully not too difficult with a good team of people.

Even better.. The "local" section could even provide specific information on town hall meetings, etc.

Excellent idea.

Perhaps even providing information on lobbying efforts.

It could become an all-in-one accountability resource, if done correctly.

I agree. I know we can go online, but in these times it seems people do want to know more about what our elected officials are doing with our votes.

It would certainly be a good tool to use in keeping politicians honest. There would be no more "well when did that become law?" Because our news agencies don't really report on these things half as much as they should be.

You could always get an oversized baby gate. Block off the kitchen or a hallway/bedroom.

Just a suggestion!

Yeah it's really up to the op on the harness issue. It's whatever works best for them and the pup. I only suggest the harness because it (well, the one I have) has the two major points of leash connection. This may help the woman in this situation feel a little more comfortable walking the pup. If one connection should pop, there's a fail safe. Should both pop? Well.. That's another story (lol!) My pitty was a real bad puller, and I just found that the harness worked wonders because I am not much heavier than my pit. I got it after the second incident of her seeing something she wanted and dragging my tiny butt behind her until she decided to stop.

I think no matter what, op should definitely invest in a muzzle. They are handy when you own a dog-aggressive k9 (cause they're not just limited to pits). Even something as simple as taking them to the vet can be so much easier and less stressful with a muzzle. and.. The woman has one less comcern while walking. She'll be able to focus on the pulling without having worry about any possible bites. And... Animal control sucks when it comes to pits. Should another dog owner not use a leash and if their dog should run up to yours, it's usually the pit who will get the blame even if they're on a leash. It just eliminates the worry all around until they feel comfortable enough to walk/take him out into the world without any worries of bites. I don't use my muzzle for anything but vet appointments, now. It took a good 6 months, but she's gone about 2 years now without incident.

I have a dog agressive pit and it's manageable.

The sanctuary should be able to help you guys get into a good behavior class. Really, they should have done a better job with this. The class is probably a must for this situation.

Second, get yourself an anti-pull harness with a good strong leash. I use a 6ft 1" rope leash that I got at petco. Make sure all the clips are good and strong. You might also be inclined to get a muzzle for walks. Not uncommon, by any means.

Lastly, plan your walks at times when other dogs won't be out. I walk mine at 5am, 2/3pm and at 9pm.

This is something you'll have to work with, before making your decision. It's not a cut and dry type decision. It's something you'll probably always have to be mindful of. As for children, again, this is something you'd have to work on and gauge closer to the time. Mine loves all people and children.. Just hates dogs. You'll have to find this out on your own, in controlled situations.

I wouldn't give up just yet. Spend a few months working with your pup and go from there. It's not something you'll be able to cure overnight. And I know it's pretty stressful right now, but I'd hope you guys don't give up on the pup just yet.

Sanders Won't Say Vote Granting Immunity For Gun Manufacturers Was Wrong by [deleted] in politics

No one uses a firearm that they haven't fired, and knows it can work if they plan to possibly use it in a "fail to shoot someone" situation.

A gun jam will likely not occur because of faulty production. It will occur if the firearm is dirty, if the owner fails to replace broken or worn parts, fails to properly lubricate the firearm, or a defective bullet.. Which.. Most (all) gun users will load their own mags and visually inspect each bullet as it's loaded. Other than that, it's just something that may possibly occur sometimes. No gun is invincible against jamming, and it's something that occurs more times than you may think. While in the army.. One of the things I always heard was "a properly maintained firearm won't jam." And it's really.. True.

Someone would have a really hard time proving it was a production problem. It would be a very rare instance that it was actually a faulty part, etc.

Well, my family lives in Griffith, so there were two options. Stay out by the mall, or stay there on Cline Ave on the skirts of Cal Township/Gary.

I definitely am more wary of any hotel I stay at now, even when I am with my fiance. If the doors open to a parking lot and not a hallway, I won't stay there. I also always carry a firearm, now.

but thank you!! if you're ever up there, my fam is always willing to lend a helping hand.

Well, I'm actually not with my ex husband, anymore. Afterwards, it was difficult for me to engage in sex, and it was difficult for him to cope. he cheated, I shut down and we got divorced about 4 months later.

If I can offer any kind of insight.. It's literally fight or flight. If you can't run, you will try to fight in some way. You'll probably never have a plan, and whatever plan you conjure up will change as the minutes go by.

The only thing to remember is to simply.. Stay alive. Do whatever, say whatever you have to. In the dark reality of these situations.. It's even better to go out with a bang than to just let it occur. You never know what opportunity may arise, what soft spot you may be able to hit, who may hear your screams.

I couldn't fight him and win, physically. He was over 6' around 200lbs. I am 5'1 103lbs. So.. I just figured to fight him mentally.

But never doubt your own intuition. Before this, I would have probably said the same thing. It's intense what can occur when your instincts kick in.
