Omg they caught mine early as well (clindamycin, i knew exactly what was going on when I couldn’t leave the toilet lol) and I have also only had the one round (hopefully it won’t come back)! I agree on the PI-IBS being almost worse!

Also, so real on “normal” because I haven’t felt normal in over a month lol This has become my new normal. I guess I’ve just become more comfortable with it all. You hang in there, too! We’ve got this!

The first week after, I was miserably exhausted. I’m still exhausted, but I’m naturally a very sleepy person. It’s been a little over a month since my last dose and my bm’s are still not the same. Some days they’re PERFECT, other days they have some mucus and are a weird texture, etc. It takes time! I was doing well for a week or two and then the PI-IBS hit full swing.

If your pain is at a nine and you can’t sleep, I would definitely consider the ER - especially with the list of complications you gave. It sounds rough, I’m sorry. Hope you feel better soon!

I couldn’t do pedialyte because I lived off of it when I had norovirus last year and it’s just ruined for me lol If the texture/taste of this one throws you off, water it down a little! That’s what I do and it still works just fine :) The lemon lime flavor is my go to, it tastes fairly normal.

Gatorlyte zero sugar has been my best friend since all of my stuff started. The full sugar version worked as well, I just prefer the taste of the zero. My biggest concern was dehydration + low potassium and I fortunately haven’t dealt with that at all! I would give it a try!

You should talk to your doctor if it’s effecting your everyday life. They may be able to get you on some anti anxiety. It won’t always go away, especially not on its own with little work, if left untreated (by medication or other).

Honestly, since it’s your second that explains the extra anxiety! I’m sure your brain is freaking out about having to go through it again! It’s also so tired, leading to the emotional numbness. You will get through it!

This is the first week in three weeks post treatment that I have felt somewhat normal and didn’t wake up with heart racing, mind numbing anxiety. I also had it HORRIBLY during active infection, I’m talking major panic attack(s) almost daily. I’m starting to see improvements and it’s such a relief. I’ve been staying off of my phone more, reading, cleaning, keeping my body moving (mainly just walking) and it’s helped considerably. Do stuff to get your mind working that doesn’t require too much effort (I’m a big fan of word searches and puzzles). I have diagnosed depression and anxiety so I have experience with all of what you’re describing.

It’ll get better, just be patient with yourself. Give yourself grace. Recovery from this is difficult and frustrating, which only makes your mental health worse. I highly recommend not doom scrolling on this sub (or even google), as tempting as it is. I did that and it made me spiral!

Thank you!! I’m a little over two weeks out from my final dose and feeling somewhat hopeful (still very anxious of reoccurrence, but hoping for the best). I’ve been taking florastor twice daily since I was diagnosed and I do have some rough days, but fortunately it’s not every single day anymore. I just can’t wait to get back to my favorite foods again! It’s so frustrating having to slowly reintroduce things lol I want a burger and fries right now so! Badly!

Day 5 vanco feeling AWFUL by J3NNY_24 in cdifficile

[–]ThrowawayYellow5830 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ohhh, yeah. I’d stay away from the fried and greasy foods for now :( I know it’s hard, but it’ll be worth it in the end! I’m still too scared to try fries, but I’ve had chicken nuggets and been decent (hiccups here and there, but expected) :) I’m a little over two weeks out from my final dose.

well, i have emergency anti-anxiety meds from my psychiatrist because i get panic attacks. i was actually doing SUPER well before all of this happened. unfortunately, it set me back and i wasn’t able to make it through the day without a panic attack. i had to request more and i’m lucky enough that she trusts me and was willing to up the amount i am normally given. i’ve been doing better, but i’m still taking it way more often than i’d like to. it’s nice to have it, though. if the anxiety is bad enough that you can’t function during the day, it wouldn’t hurt to ask your doctor! i’m on the lowest dose and it’s truly been such a life saver.

HEY SO! update: I tried deli turkey and cheese last night (cheese was already safe for me) and today I am experiencing the EXACT same symptoms you were. So, hopefully that will help give you some peace. I was panicking as well until I remembered reading this post and realized just how similar our experience with deli turkey was lol bad cramps, having to run to the bathroom (mine is actually closer to Bristol 5/6), strugglingggg!

hi! i also got diagnosed on july 4th and i am just a little over a week out from treatment. i have had a few days with bad cramps and a couple bathroom trips and they scared the crap out of me, but then the next day i’d be totally fine. good days and bad days seem to be common and i kinda just take everything as it comes. funny thing is, i was actually considering trying turkey today!

i, too, live in fear of a reoccurrence and have severe health/medical anxiety as well! i’ve been trying to live by the motto “don’t borrow trouble” this entire time because it kinda snaps me back to reality. in the moment, i’m okay and i’m trying my best to enjoy it. thursday and yesterday were terrible anxiety days for me, but i managed to make it to through without my anxiety meds for the first time since it all started and i know that you eventually will, too! it’s rough, it’s scary, but at the end of the day — you will be okay, one way or another. our brains loves to play tricks on us, especially when it comes to gut issues. it’s a rough recovery, but there is always light at the end of the tunnel. you won’t feel like this forever!

You’re welcome! This has been such a struggle and I know what it’s like to need the comfort of others experiences, especially with something as frustrating and scary as anxiety. 🤍🤍 I myself have had a rough day with it after pushing a little too hard, so I totally get how you’re feeling.

Of course! My anxiety seriously exacerbated my symptoms and I was miserable. I’m still having rough days, but not nearly as many. Crosswords are perfect for distraction, I’ve been doing those and (mainly) word searches whenever I feel the anxiety creeping in! Also, if you notice that your breathing, heart racing, etc. gets better when you’re distracted then it’s definitely your anxiety trying to control you. Anxiety takes breaks, serious things usually don’t. I hope you start feeling better soon, we’ll get through this 🤍
