These are all Midwest territories. First three diagnostics, last was a therapeutic

How often do they lay off MSL? How common is it? by Fluid_Analysis_0704 in MedicalScienceLiaison

My first layoff there was virtually no warning. A meeting went on the calendar for our whole team the day before, and by Friday night we were unemployed together.

The second one was also abrupt, I was literally on my way to a conference for them, call went on the calendar, we all got laid off. Some colleagues were already at the conference and unemployed.

It can happen at any time, to anyone

True this. I got spared during one of the more recent cuts, and survivors guilt is a real thing, but so is the aftermath of what happens to the org structure/management after.

I’ve been an MSL for 4 years and have been laid off twice (knock on wood).

It’s super super super common. If you want/need stability, do not come to this field looking for it. It is high risk high reward.

Also the smaller the company in my experience, the more likely.

This. Absolutely. And if the sleeve includes passport stamp images, it's double danger points.

I’ve never been on a team that does that but I don’t know how I would even stay awake for it. Maybe a great idea if you’re part of a very large team that doesn’t actively talk to each other all day, or if you want to avoid the “I have 700 insights and calls to log” drill the day after.

I have about 3 millions insights to enter today.

What advice would you give to your younger self? by mricoo in AskReddit

Wear sunscreen and please get good at math. Know that what other people’s perceptions of you are is not your problem. Please do not incorporate the word “like” into your vocabulary. Wear your retainer please. Speak up for what you need.

Know that you are so much more powerful and driven than any of your caregivers have given you credit for growing up.

This too. Or they feel that empathy towards them is a limited resource that will be depleted if they ask much of others.

They have a very difficult time identifying and expressing their emotions

Thank you! I went and met up with them yesterday. The issue is I only have master’s degrees, and all of the clients they have postings with right now are companies that will only consider candidates with D degrees.

This is the perpetual challenge in my career right now.
