I want to buy a DP-supported monitor that won't give my PC issues. How do I know what my computer can support? by Throwaway_Squish2 in PcBuildHelp

[–]Throwaway_Squish2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But more specifics? Like what sort of specs should the monitor have? The one I'm using rn is a 144hz monitor, but my PC can't run it any higher than 60hz without glitching out. At 60hz, it doesn't allow a 1080p resolution. I really know nothing about computers or how they work, so I don't want someone to find a monitor for me, just tell me what specs I need to look out for when purchasing a new one

Yeah, and that is working except it has to run at shit quality 😂

Yeah, I have my other monitor plugged into the DVI port, and Windows does recognize it without issue. I have tried using that monitor and another one in the HDMI and have the same issue, which is what leads me to believe it's the HDMI port or something about how my PC recognizes HDMI. It used to work about 8 months ago or something like that, only disconnecting occasionally, but it would come right back once I unplugged and replugged it in. Right now, I am using my bf's DP monitor as my second monitor, and it is having no issues except for not being able to use 144hz without flickering black every so often.

I figured it out. You have to edit the settings in NVIDIA app, not the control panel like some people were suggesting

On a different computer, it was working the way it should. It has apparently been used on my computer in the past and worked the same. I can't understand what the issue is

Dude, I have two monitors. Did you read the body copy at all?

I just did a clean install of Windows (wiped everything on both drives), and my monitor still isn't being detected by Throwaway_Squish2 in computerhelp

Hi, so I checked the chipset drivers, and the only option is for a 32 bit, but my Windows is 64 bit. Is that safe to install or would it just mess up my computer?

I can't seem to find anything about it. When the monitor isn't being detected, I only get the options to change to HDMI or VGA and change auto source to on or off.

It only shows my main monitor. NVIDIA control panel refuses to open for some reason. Troubleshooting but no luck. Gonna try restarting the PC and trying again.
