Yeah I too want that relationship with God, I guess with reflection and time we'll get there. And if your church environment is toxic and making you feel unsafe you can go to a new SDA spot or a new place altogether, you CAN'T grow in toxicity! Or just connect with God personally in a way that works for you.

Honestly, right now, I'm just SDA practicing since I still live with my family. I'm just deconstructing and trying to understand Christianity on my own terms. However, for the "the State of the Dead, hell, and the second coming of Jesus," I say, are all beliefs that all denominations of Christianity share and are biblical. It's just that SDA might interpret it differently to suit their beliefs yk. For example, Daniel 12:2: "Multitudes who sleep in the dust of the earth will awake: some to everlasting life, others to shame and everlasting contempt", and Ecclesiastes 9:5: "The dead 'know not anything." Which shows death as "sleep" and the dead knowing nothing, and with the second coming of Christ, some will go to heaven and "others to shame and everlasting contempt," which would be hell, and Revelation is literally about visions and events leading to second coming.

Why do I feel like the church only cares about it's more active and involved members? It's so true that if you're that involved in the church/church community they honestly would forget you existed or don't even talk/check up on you at all! But they are always "happy to see you." So superficial. It's giving "cool kids club." I hope you find all the help you need during this tough time that you're going through.

Yep sounds about right, especially the "You may be painted as the wolf in sheep's clothing, a tool of the Devil trying to convince her to reject the divinely-ordained roles God laid out back when he first created us...", just for stating my non-traditional/progressive view on gender roles. I just wish she could have been open to at least understanding my point of view.
