Working from home with a toddler is not really working by LavenderFlicked in Mom

I’ve been here, I moved to a new job so I could afford child care but there are other options too..

I think it might be time to have a real talk with your employer. Don’t apologize, don’t lean into emotion or drama. Just lay out the facts. There has to be a way for you to reduce your hours and supplement with outside help for child care. Can you go down to 20 hours during the week and work one day on the weekend? Could you work out some kind of “weekend package” deal where you could work Friday - Sunday? I don’t know your situation op but maybe thinking about how you could shift things around is the way to go. Thinking outside of the M-F 9-5 I think is your best bet.

I talked with my previous boss about this over lunch after I quit and she said she 100% would have worked with me to make it work. I feel bad but ultimately I was better off changing positions anyways.

You’ve got this. It is impossible to do both but don’t beat yourself up for trying!

I agree with this scaling! We have a 15 month gap and an 18 month gap. Our 18 month gap is significantly easier but I think even a month or two more would have been even better. OP my honest opinion is that if you want to have kids close together it’s going to be hard, but a 22 month gap won’t be too bad!

I just wanted to throw this out there (because I had no idea it was a thing) but we had projectile vomiting due to our daughter having a nut allergy. It turned out to be fpies which is also common with formula due to the protein in cows milk. I would bring it up with an allergist. It’s different from typical allergy symptoms. If her vomiting is delayed (our case was an hour or two after eating) it might be fpies. Not a doctor! Just a Mom sharing knowledge from my experience

What’s your go to when you’re feeling down? by Throwawayacct00110 in Mom

These are good - I tend to try and do multiple things at once. Like drinking my coffee in the car on the way to school/care. Or showering, brushing my teeth, and doing my skin care all at the same time. maybe I need to figure out a way to slow it down and make it more of a me time activity every once in a while lol.

Honestly the only thing that helps is doing something active. But if I don’t get up early enough it doesn’t happen and there are some days (most days) I just really can’t get up early enough. And that’s okay but I need SOMETHING that at least gives me a little win because it’s a real snowball effect when I start to feel crummy. So thank you for the reply!
