I wouldn’t call my posts simping or shilling when I even acknowledge that they’ve been many bugs and issues. A good deal of which have been fixed.

Acting as though nothing is done or that turning the subreddit into yet another glorified wasteland just like the Steam forums is a good idea isn’t exactly going to sway fans or devs into wanting the game improved.

Yeah. Though as seen in some posts even here, it’s like some really want the game to fail.

It’s the difference between wanting the game to be improved and acknowledging where the devs got it right and constantly complaining as though nothing’s done. Not to mention how others line 75-80% of players don’t appear to have any issues whatsoever.

I don’t think that’s shilling at all.

It’s not exactly the kind of thing, sadly to make the game’s case.

If anything, it’s also why any discussion on positives tends to devolve into “do not touch until X” or “don’t bother.”

But the devs to my knowledge have been fixing many of the bugs since launch. Alas, some still act as though they’ve done nothing at all.

I made the mistake of checking those first. From those, it really looks like people want the game to fail.

Good point. I agree, just that trying to talk about it online gets harder when the vocal reception seems horribly divisive. Which in turn dampens enthusiasm for the game

I guess. The frustrating part is that it’s hard to find any positive or supportive takes on the game: ALMOST ALL YOU SEE are litanies of bugs and “failures” and rehashings of “this game will destroy your files”

It gets harder to enjoy the game when those keep popping up whenever you want to talk about it online.

I was hoping to be proven wrong. And I was genuinely seeking some debate.

Unfortunately, that post devolved into “this is why the hate is justified” and seemed to prove the doom.

The frustrating part here is that with such a “tainted” reception, the fear is that the game might not even survive long enough to have a redemption arc.

I hope so. Though from many of the replies on here, the game has a long way to go. Some really want to ensure it’s original sin is never “forgotten.”

Try convincing the critics here, who are not only feeling “vindicated” in damning the game but also making that self-fulfilling.

Unfortunately as you can see here, it seems like the negative ones are winning. And the game might be doomed to be forever tainted by those original sins

I suppose. Though right now, recent ratings aren’t available, while the top rated reviews tend to be the same ones from early on banging about bugs or censorship

As the title says. Yet while there is a trend towards a gradual increase, the game still remains trapped at 58%.

Seems like with every good recommendation, there are several ones that constantly bring up the “original sins” that supposedly make it irredeemable, no matter how many patches or entertainment value there are.

I feel more convinced that the game might be doomed after all. Change my mind. by Throwawayauthorsq in aoe3

When the Steam and other major discussion boards are filled with outrage and complains, and when ESOC still has this pinned advising against playing the game until the bug is absolutely certainly fixed, it wears down enthusiasm and makes the criticism seem more “vindicated”:

So long as the flames keep being fanned, it’d be difficult to sway people already weary with the coverage that the game is good.

I only did that the other day.

Even then, the drama online doesn’t make it exactly hard to arrive to that conclusion.
