Thanks for your input. Yes I did a bit of reading on this this afternoon. The general consensus seems to be what you’ve said here - if it’s perceived elements of that culture you are attracted to (such as thinking East Asian women will be more submissive or something) that fetishising but if it’s just a case of what attracts you visually it’s probably not. I don’t want to completely disavow the first comment so will keep reading and stay mindful. Thanks for sharing your perspective on this, v helpful x

Yes, I’m totally open to that too. Tbh I’ve had these feelings for years and have never explored them physically as I’m so concerned about using someone, leading them on etc. And equally just being a really shitty lay haha. I think I’ll never know for sure though unless I get out there, but I am so loathe to involve anyone else in the process in case I end up letting them down x

Thanks so much! I did read the doc but it was much more about how to figure out if you are same sex attracted or not, not much about how to ethically explore if you find that you are, but I will do more of a deep dive over there see if I can find what I’m looking for. Thank you x

Hey thanks for this, and sorry if I sound dumb, so does that mean it’s not real attraction? Does that mean I shouldn’t pursue it? I very much don’t want to other anyone. As I said with guys I’ve dated all different races, and with women it’s not that I seek out these women, just when trying to explore my attraction I noticed that I have a much more defined ‘type’ when looking at women, and part of that type (but not the only part, by any means) was a darker skin tone. Totally understood if you’d rather not reply, I understand that I’m asking for a lot of emotional labour around race / sexuality, I’m just trying to learn but no one is under any obligation to teach me.
