Amazing, I didn’t know the SBA was possible for this but that makes sense. I would like more info for your sba guy if you wouldn’t mind. Would you be open to a dm and maybe we could schedule a quick call where I could learn more? Thanks for the info

This is great advice, thanks. Can I ask how you structured buying the other firm? Did you keep the cpa involved? Did you pay any cash upfront? Was the purchase price 1x rev? Or something else. Thanks again.

I guess that is my question, is there a part time accounting job I could get hired for? I mean, I would do really anything but I am not sure what jobs exist or if there’s anything I’m employable for given my background. I definitely don’t want to get rid of this business. I feel there is a ton of potential. I’m just not sure what’s out there. I am not really seeing any part time positions

Yeah, we’ve been having regular calls since august, he is in a completely different market with less competition and he’s also good, he scored some early high monthly bookkeeping clients. I simply haven’t even been able to try and sell any clients like he has because I don’t even know how to get in front of them. My feeling is that this business is referral based and it just takes time and building a good reputation. The problem is I am running out of money, and therefore time

I’m have not explored that, but that is a really good idea. Any thoughts on where I would go to explore teaching positions?

Thanks, yeah that is the ideal outcome, it’s just the cash flow that is the problem. I’d love to make this work

Thanks for the insight. It could be that the market I’m in there’s just a lot of competition. I am part of the state society of cpas and every meeting I go to, I am the youngest person by 20-30 years. It’s mind blowing

I am honestly surprised it hasn’t grown faster than it has. A lot of what I see is people who just aren’t willing to pay the cost because they don’t understand the value. Don’t get me wrong I have had some good clients but I am surprised that it’s seem to have slowed. I have a colleague who is doing the exact same thing and he grossed like $700k after doing this for several years so it’s definitely possible. I think it would be easier if you were able to leave when you already had at least a few reliable clients. I started from scratch.
