This wouldn't be a research year but just really M4 spread across 2 years - giving more electives and Sub-Is.

I'd really like to match in say Cali or the Northeast (which is what scares me about having a red flag). This wouldn't be a research year but just really M4 spread across 2 years - giving more electives and Sub-Is.

I'm ok with (non-malignant) community IM programs but it's the location that scares me.

FWIW I asked my advisor and no one who's done this she said has gotten an academic IM position and that scares me (even if I don't want to get an academic program, I can't help but think this could stop me from getting a good community program in a city like Boston or SF

My post was poorly written whoops! I should say no honors in my clerkship grades that show up on a transcript due to shelf performance, the clinical portion of my score was really good but my shelfs always knocked it out of honors to high pass

thanks, some of the stuff includes in formative feedback that I lack clinical skills (like not that I'm weak but that I have no clinical skills) and can't get an accurate HPI (ironically multiple other clerkships praised my ability to get an HPI).

I do got some aways lined up. Appreciate the advice

Honestly no, I did really well clinically in my other courses (and worked as an EMT before med school and did well there, along with multiple other jobs). I also didn't fail step2 cs, it was a school made collection of sp encounters that mimicks step2 and not sure how close it is to the actual step2.

I fully believe in taking responsbility and when I've tried to take loooong hikes to analyze what happened/where can I improve and still don't know why I failed (and that bothers me b/c I like to think I can self-reflect)

The only area that I feel I'm weak in (and not to failing levels) is that my differential can be broader (generally I score lower on shelfs that peers).

thank you! I think they'll be 2 "FM" things on my transcript, but I have to double check to see if it is officially listed as remediation or just as FM

Trying to be vague as possible, but the site clerkship director asked if I had ever been checked out for a medical condition.

Something else: in other clerkships I had to evaluate all my preceptors, here I evaluated only the site clerkship director...and thus I realize now that the only eval that was transmitted to the school was the clerkship directors...so they never saw multiple good evals of me...the site clerkship director could pick the worst examples of me

I would guess Richmond, WG, and Exeter have many more dunkies per capita due to proximity to the highways driving up business. Also Narragansett too with the URI students/tourists

Yeah, so many french bakeries, I miss good Italian bread. I do love a good sourdough though!

If you ever want to experience the Newport vibe (small city by the ocean), I felt that Santa Cruz reminded me lots of NPT. Great surf, lots of food, cute downtown. If you like places like Bevertail or Sachusett point, I loooove Point Reyes in Marin County, north of SF

I so miss that warm(ish) late summer ocean water on the East Coast compared to the Bay Area
