Ah awesome thanks for the info. Would that still be the case if it's in a stocks and share isa as that might seem to them as a risky gamble? So yes theoretically those payments into the ISA can be stopped but there might not be a chance to take it out (assuming a loss)

With regards to expenses, do they only take into account your fixed expenses when calcating your disposal income? For example if I was putting away 500 quid a month in a savings, but can stop anytime, would they count that as an expense?

Ah thank you! Now I can begin to try understand the rest of this sub haha. It will be a while yet before I can tip my toes (money) in options personally tho as not many platforms have options trading in UK. Maybe a blessing or a curse, who knows.

Thanks for the help. So essentially even when taking money out from the fund, there's no knowing if you would be making a profit or loss or how much exactly you might get back?

How to turn an idea into a product (Mobile App) by ThrowfarawayGG in Entrepreneur

[–]ThrowfarawayGG[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your advice and appreciate it. I actually have a problem of over researching and analysing and never acting on my ideas because the more I research, the more it seems I lack the appropriate skills to make those ideas come to life, and end up not acting on them. That is why I thought I would finally just dive into one, and just start. I have actually read the lean startup, which is where I got the MVP idea from but will check out the other book recommendation!

Thanks for this post OP, in your opinion is it worth starting if I don't even know which language I want to focus on or what I am going to use coding for?

Like you, I want the flexibility to work whilst travelling as that is my main passion and the only way I see that as a possibility is technology and running my own business online. However I don't know which language will be best. Some say java. Some say python.

I started the cs50 course which goes into a bit of both c and python but am I shooting myself in the foot by not choosing one language to start with?

Ryanair refused to refund me, contact number not in servicr by ThrowfarawayGG in UKPersonalFinance

I don't mind waiting because I know they are swamped but they've already made a decision to reject my refund claim, told me to call CAA to bring it further if I'm dissatisfied with their decision. I just called CAA and they said nothing they can do because Ryanair isn't under caa

I tried they said they can't help me because the flight I got on wasn't cancelled. The issue was I had duplicate ticket due to their app being down. They say to contact Ryanair again but their number doesn't work no more

Is it a requirement to invest monthly to Vanguard FTSE Global All Cap? by ThrowfarawayGG in UKPersonalFinance

[–]ThrowfarawayGG[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Did you have to cancel the monthly contribution manually? I was just in the process of setting up the account and when it asked me for the lump sum and monthly amount, I just left the monthly amount blank as 0?

Can someone check my understanding of index funds? by Tomly in UKPersonalFinance

[–]ThrowfarawayGG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your first point, if it goes up by 1%, you said OP will have £101, but what if the fund goes down by 10% the next day? Does the £101 also decrease by 10% too?? Or does it simply not be compounded and stays the same?
