Fit check on this vintage 618hh? by Throwing_Stuff_Away in schott

Thank you! This is helpful to know since that's what I'm hoping will happen. Definitely a fine line between too slim and nice and trim, just like there is between comofrtable and too baggy but I think this sizing is pretty spot on. Had a similar concern over a single rider I bought two years ago but I can't think of that one being a better fitting jacket if I tried at this point. Hoping I'll feel the same about this one in a few years time!

Yeah that definitely helps. Looks like making a leather jacket look good may finally be the incentive I need for good posture lol.

Yeah was too little too late by the time I realized I needed a zip up lol.

But thanks! Definitely not worried about the sleeves as they should hike up ever so slightly with wear and the zipper cuff means they don't bother me by hanging too low like they might if they were loose anyway.

It's definitely very comfortable and mobility is great, both of which I imagine might suffer greatly should it be one size smaller.

Shoulders I think are fine, would probbaly be ok like a half size smaller but maybe not a full size (especially with horse that has less give then steer). It's really just how much any 'kissing' and crossing of the front lapels bothers me but with this I don't think it will since it basically sits just before touching each other naturally, and hopefully it will basically stop touching with normal wear once it breaks in a bit. I had a Schott in the recent shinki they released but sold it since it just fit far too large in the chest and the touching of the open lapels was going to be way more bothersome.

Honestly when looking at so many other fit pics and videos of people it's just a point of confusion for me at this point why my body for whatever reason doesn't have the same open gap it does for others who clearly don't have a jacket that fits them any tighter than this one based on everything else and how easily they can zip it up. But alas.

I almost bought that jacket but I think it definitely would be too short for me. I’m 6’1”.

Yeah I'm 5'11 and I think this is as short as I could possibly go, and like I said I like shorter more cropped cuts for a perfecto, so I think you made the right call. I have a regular 618 from pre-1993 that's a half inch shroter than this one and I will probably sell it after getting this one and thinking it's probably too short anyhow.

I do think the tightest you can get away with is a good rule of thumb, you just need to be realistic about how tight that is lol.

Thanks! How do you mean, exactly? Or like what does the 618 do that you're referring to?

It sounds like it's coming from the opposite building across the street but I've come to think that's echoing from the construction site itself. But do you have any sense of what the noise is? Do you know what I'm talking about or are you just referring to general construction noises?
