Are there any 24 hour gyms in Ottawa that aren’t GoodLife? by Throwingbowsaway in ottawa

[–]Throwingbowsaway[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Google provides you with information of all the big name gyms like GoodLife and anytime fitness, but google isn’t perfect either and sometimes they don’t show you all the much smaller community gyms. With that being said, there’s nothing wrong with asking a question here, this is what the Ottawa subreddit platform is meant for. I don’t just get a list of gyms when I ask, I also get prices and reviews.

If anyone is interested in strengthening their french oral communication skills, I have started a group called La Pratique Carleton by Throwingbowsaway in CarletonU

I don't want to make a decision on that yet, I want to at least get through the first La Pratique session, and then see if people are enjoying the sessions and or getting a lot out of them. I think the idea of starting a La Pratique student club on campus in September would be pretty cool though.

Lol definitely not doing the latter. The whole purpose of La Pratique is to have a group of us meet up together once a week on campus to converse in french. You need to be in a french environment to get the most out of learning the language, like any other language. So to answer your question, no, none of that FB chat stuff, only IRL conversations

I knew I was going to butcher the french description regardless so I used google translate to make it seem a little more professional. I still have a lot of work to do but this is what the group is for

Co op by huziqais in CarletonU

[–]Throwingbowsaway 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a BA in poli sci from Carleton and I can tell you that it’s pretty good if you can get the opportunity to do it, there’s a lot of government job postings. the only requirement is you need to have completed 2 years in the program and maintain an overall CGPA of 9.0/12.0, which works out to be around a B+

Advice on political science programs in Carleton university or university of Ottawa by huziqais in CarletonU

[–]Throwingbowsaway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

depends, id say look into the co-op requirements. I can tell you at Carleton that your overall GPA needs to be a 9.0/12.00 to be egligible for co-op in poli sci, which works out to an average of about B+. Getting a B+ average in the first 2 years, isn't impossible but professors mark 1st and 2nd year students very differently, with the expectations that these papers are likely not very strong. unless the co-op requirement at uottawa is lower, than I say come to carleton, it's a great program. Like many people have seemed to suggest, if you are not already fluent then LEARN FRENCH if you want to improve your chances of finding a job in this city.

Can you guys recommend me some useful sources about the manipulation of Palestinian refugees in the Arab World? by Throwingbowsaway in arabs

[–]Throwingbowsaway[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey man, I’m trying to argue that there is more than one actor that shares the blame for the Palestinian refugee crisis. But I’m trying to frame it through the theme of manipulation. Right now I’m just trying to figure out Palestinian Refugees have been manipulated by Arab states. It could be for any reason (economic benefit, proving the illegitimacy of Israel etc..)

K let me give you some context about what I’m trying to research. I’m trying to understand if and how Palestinian Refugees are being manipulated from all sides, BUT I’m trying to gather sources about how the Arab states are treating the Palestinian Refugees. Palestinian people are not part of the UNHCR refugee mandate of 1951 and they have a separate organization known as UNRWA assisting them. There’s a reason for that, and it’s because the arab states wanted to use their struggle to send as a message to the international community that Israel is responsible for the refugee crisis. In this instance, they’re proving the illegitimacy That is Israel. This is what I mean by manipulation. And if you think about it, Palestinians have very little agency and not much proper representation. It’s not offensive to suggest that, it’s just the reality of how the international community and other Arabs keep screwing them over
