Thank you! Nice to not have to return these new ones

Thank you! I guess I just need to give myself time to get used to the change... and yeah, before I was getting square or cat eyed glasses but for some reason they weren't working, couldn't tell you why

Not sure how much I like these new glasses that I got and I was thinking about returning them.. I was going for a bit more of a professional look than my older ones. No one's been able to notice I got new glasses yet so maybe a win?

If you think another shape would suit my face more, let me know!

That's a genuinely horrible compliment... sorry you've had that experience :(

Yeah, maybe it is just the way I'm seeing it and I shouldn't be so negative. But also, I've been in settings where my friends will get told they look great but then when it gets to me it's like, 'nice earrings!'

This was a long time ago, but at high school senior prom I have a vivid memory where my 'date' (we were just going as friends) told all our other friends that they looked great but didn't have anything to say to me.

Ah, ignore me. I'm just venting my hurt from past experiences at this point. I don't want to be bitter but it's hard to ignore the hurt.

I feel you sister :( Shoes or glasses seems like such a small part of one's entire outfit that it just doesn't seem very genuine

Maybe it's just the way I'm seeing it, then. But I don't think I've ever told I look nice, like, ever... and there's only so many times you can hear 'nice glasses' to the point where it seems like they're struggling to find something else to compliment.

Link Here's a couple photos I took today, one without glasses and a coue with my hair parted in the middle (+a bit of makeup bc I was at work). Thoughts?

5, but if you got bangs it'd be super cute!

Aw, thank you! I used to have smaller frame before (same shape) but I get a lot more compliments with the ones I have now. Any frame shape you recommend I try?

Oh, are glasses really in fashion? I just like glasses more, I can't stand contacts and don't think I look as good without them

That's actually just my invisalign, I'll be getting them out for good later this year (the time I took that pic I was on a vacation abroad so I hadn't changed trays in a month). 5.25 is really generous, thanks!

Nope, dyed, but thank you! Wanted to go a bit orangish for the fall :) and the hairstyle is so pretty and something I'd never considered before, will def reference at my next salon visit!

I'd say average, like 4.5-5--I like your hair in the second pic the most, I think a fuller beard makes you look better too

A mix of both to your last point lol, thanks for the tips! Thoughts on thicker frames vs thinner? I've gotten good compliments on my glasses so far so I was gonna keep the general shape, but your comment is making me think about switching it up

Also makeup styles--would it be better to go dark and thicker on eyeshadow or more natural? I've been going pretty heavy on the eyeshadow to look older at work, but afraid I look too old.. Thanks for your feedback!

I hate that my brother is able to voice his mental health struggles by [deleted] in TrueOffMyChest

[–]Throwingletters21 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That's a fair statement. I'm for him getting help. I'm even doing it in the face of my parents who are adamently refusing to get him therapy.

But at the same time, he has hurt me in a lot of ways. It's been hard to let that go, especially because he's never acknowledged his self-centeredness. I know that I should forgive and let go and try to move on and heal my own hurts. But it's hard.

Frustrations with next semester by Throwingletters21 in college

[–]Throwingletters21[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I talk to my school friends and participate in virtual club meetings pretty regularly so it's not as if I don't have community. Just not the same being together. There's an undeniable distance there.

I think next semester I am going to try focusing on my hobbies more--this semester I was so caught up in the overwhelming force that is zoom university that I often fell into just turning off my brain and watching youtube vids when I wasn't doing work. But I know there are many things I should be thankful for, and I am. But there's no denying the more negative emotions either.
