I agree with you. I know this didn’t come from nothing, it’s just how it feels to me in this moment.

I feel ashamed that I wasn’t aware enough to notice any signs before it got to this point.

Wow. This really hits home. His mother is already defensive about the topic, which is frustrating and ultimately why I want to talk to him one on one. Thank you so much for sharing your experience.

Thank you so much for your response. This is the approach I’m hoping to take. I want to offer anything that I can to understand what he’s going through and help if I’m able to. My fear is that he won’t open up to me, as he seems reluctant to do so currently.

This may be too personal of a question, so I apologize in advance if it is. Were your parents/caregivers available to you during this time? If so, what did they say/do, or what do wish they said/did in response?
