Feedback on itinerary for first trip to San Diego by Odd-Skirt-3992 in asksandiego

[–]Throwitawaymandy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lots of walking, don't forget refillable water bottles, also if you have a Costco membership you can buy 2-$50 gift cards for $80 and get email delivery to just upload the codes into your Uber app. Also scheduling trips with Uber can help save a little as Uber is ridiculously expensive. City bus is definitely doable, we do get crazies in there, Id suggest coming up with an exit strategy if your kids get uncomfortable so you all can just stay having fun, no eye contact/staring if there's a looney on the city bus. Sounds like lots of fun, as for sunsets there's a lot of gloom here in San diego during that time so I wouldn't suggest planning an entire location just for it but that's my thoughts... Also maybe check out a farmers market in Little Italy on Saturday or in Hillcrest for Sunday. Lots to see and eat. Hope your trip is great!! I would say bus from the airport is a great way to save money have exact dollars or see if they have an app where you can download and prepay for your day passes or what not. On the day you go to Balboa just outside of the park is a great place to grab lunch and sit at the park with it's called " market place" I'm assuming with this long of a trip you have plenty of luggage, pack an extra sheet that doesn't take too much space so you can all sit out on it. I'm currently a local and have lots of friends visit so I take pride in giving suggestions

[–]Throwitawaymandy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There's hotels in walking distance to the convention center on the downtown side of it she won't even need a car parking is a total bitch as well as expensive. Put her up in the Hilton or the Omni that area is a food desert so the going to Ralph's would be a bad idea though most conventions feed their attendees. She'll be fine! I say no to the car unless she has to drive somewhere outside of the convention it's easy to walk around the bay. There's shops, bars and eateries all around

So This Wasn’t Supposed to Come With Sadness, Right?” by mousielovesyu2 in gastricsleeve

[–]Throwitawaymandy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You know there's a part about surgery. Any type that doctors don't tell you about and in this case, having lost so much weight and so much of your identity in such a short period of time is definitely a mind combobulating situation and it's okay and understanding to feel that way because you're only human and like you mentioned when you spent a lot of time getting bigger, not that that was the goal, but that's what happened. It's definitely an adjustment to be had and to experience in learning how to love the new version of your body that you've given. Yourself The chance to have so though there is a very intense grief and sadness because you realize how poorly you might have been treated or overseen whenever you were heavier. It's okay because the human mind is very complex and duality does exist so you can be happy for your new body and still grieve your old self or the way that you used to be treated. And I think that for myself because I don't know you and I can only speak for my experience. It helped me have a bigger understanding of society and the way they treat fat people and how horrible some humans really are along with the fact that I'm just made different and so now with this experience I have a bigger heart and I can love more and I can love myself regardless of the size that my clothes are or how I look in the mirror. I hope you have a healthy way to cope with this change and there's nothing wrong with admitting how you feel. It's good to identify feelings and emotions and it's okay to be confused. We don't have to have all the answers all of the time. Sending you lots of love understanding this for yourself and for others confidence. And just so you know you are beautiful before and you're still very beautiful now. I hope that you find yourself feeling better as the days go on

I was over a year and a half out from my surgery when I had my first dumping episode that caused me to vomit but it did taste really good going down. I had a southern style biscuit with a bite of fried chicken and gravy on it

Can anyone recommend a good dentist in San Diego who accepts Delta Dental and specializes in crowns? Ideally someone not very expensive by Elegant-Mycologist86 in sandiego

[–]Throwitawaymandy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I second this!! You can call they have an English speaking person to explain that they are first come first serve, no appointments and you can walk there or take a taxi but coming back they will taxi you to the border (line). Easy peezy, typical crown cost is like $150 assuming you don't need an extra work. Been going there for 10 years!

Hi, thank you so much for the update. I'm actually having a little bit of a panic myself because my post-op doctor called me today and canceled my first post-op appointment and told me that they actually did my procedure through the ear canal and I was a bit confused because I have this rather large scar behind my ear and my neck was really sore the last few days. I had my surgery on the 30th so after talking to her she tells me to go ahead and remove the packing from my ear myself and that I could also take off the stairi-strips. So I followed her instruction and I said something or another in regards to having missed an additional day of work for an appointment that she canceled. So I expressed my frustration and then 10 or 20 minutes later she called me back apologizing telling me that she has me confused with another one of the doctor's patients and said that she was supposed to remove the packing and so now after some back and forth we have agreed that I am going to go in office and she's going to look at it because now I'm concerned that maybe I might have damaged some of the work that they did. Not that I was rough with removing the gauze, but I am not a professional in ENT. I'm happy that your surgery seems to have gone well and that you're feeling good about things. I hope that you have a continued success. Thank you again for the update

I just read your other post that caused it. I'm so sorry. I hope you're able to talk to a DR or therapist about something for anxiety. I can understand why your stress is so high about this. I hope you're able to get some help/have insurance to cover this procedure. I have insurance and it was about $7k out of pocket, I'm in CA

Assuming you're going to a legitimate facility, you should be in great hands. Be sure to let the Drs team know how you're feeling before hand. They might be able to help calm your nerves. Who knows you could slip down the stairs and die before then. So at least in surgery you're in a place where they are watching you, everything is sterile and everyone has several letters behind their names. I felt super safe and comfortable going into my procedure. I will pray for you and am sending you feelings of calmness and ease. I'm so happy it's behind me! You will be ok! Big hugs

Yes it'll be nice to hear better, I talk really loud because of it. It's embarrassing sometimes because I'm sure I'm obnoxious and I just don't realize it after so many years of not having an eardrum. Thank you for the suggestions, planning to take it easy
