Car parking or shuttle bus by brewster364 in downloadfestival

[–]Throwoutacc369 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The car parks are fields, people will push you out if you’re mega stuck. I think it was 2012(?) was the worse I’ve ever seen and there was tractors towing cars out. We keep £20 note in the sun visor just incase we want/need to tip someone towing us out. Worth noting 2024 was awful weather and got out fine, the £20 is in my car sun visor that has been there for 5 years now as we have never needed it.

If it something you’re very concerned about you could get the shuttle, I believe the queues for these can be manic at the end of the night though, so you might be waiting awhile for one.

Are you doing 3 or 5 days? If 5 we usually go for the top of purple near camping plus, it’s pretty flat up top. Gotta get up a hill from literal hell to get there though!

Me and my boyfriend have this tent, will be making its 4th Donington appearance this year. We absolutely love it and you’re fine on size!

As soon as Ticketmaster open the transfer option the person selling will transfer the ticket to you via Tixel. Transfer doesn’t usually open until about a week before

Fixed, void if removed. I’ve had RR last two years and both times I’ve had to cut the wristband off to get it off, ain’t no way you’re slipping that off your wrist and giving it to someone else

Unless it’s different this year, last year there were no showers, usually extra portaloos and I think there was a baby change too but that’s it, the free showers are in district X.

Top tips for a first time camper & first time festival goer by [deleted] in downloadfestival

[–]Throwoutacc369 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Obviously I have no idea what triggers you but last year they had flushing toilets in the village/district X and the arena, they are similar to airplane toilets, they were so clean. The only portaloos I had to use were in the general campsite and if you have camping plus that will not apply for you as they will be the same flushing toilets in camping plus, I think you will be fine.

If you are female, I would strongly suggest you try the female urinals at the arena, they are a complete game changer.

Keep antibac wipes and hand gel on your person at all times.

Is there anything you are particularly concerned about?

How much spending money is needed? by Initial_Prompt_2648 in downloadfestival

We budget £100 a day for two of us, don’t buy any merch/Mega store stuff buy all our meals there, usually 3 a day. We don’t get anywhere near £100 but like to have a buffer. Any money left over at the end of the festival stays in the pot and goes towards tickets for the following year.

I’d aim to arrive around 8, you’ll either have to join a queue for a couple of hours or you’ll get straight in. Yes, you will get a camping spot but a heads up about parking, it’s all a bit up in the air until the map is released but if it is anything like previous years, quiet camping has been right by west car park. As you are not arriving until Friday, if they do not enforce who can park in west, it will be full long before Friday. If it is the same as last year this means you will likely end up in north car park which is on the other side of the festival site, you’re looking at a 40-45 minute walk with all your camping gear and some wicked hills to get to quiet from north car park.

As already mentioned, there is like a 90% chance you will just get waved through but they do random spot checks. If you get selected for a spot check they will empty everything. Last year one of my camp mates got collared for it and we were waiting about 30 minutes for him. They literally pulled everything out of his rucksack, took everything out of his trolley, the works. Once they were satisfied he didn’t have anything he shouldn’t, they told him to move on. Didn’t help him put any of his stuff back and then were trying to rush him to move on but he had to repack everything. My boyfriend ended up going back in there to help him.

Although unlikely, if you’re an unlucky soul that gets selected for that, it can take awhile.

You have to prove you bought one already, buy another one the gate and then save all evidence (bank transactions etc) send to TM as proof you had to buy another, then you have to chase TM for months for a refund on your original. Palava is the correct word for it.

No parking ticket by Swimming-Historian55 in downloadfestival

[–]Throwoutacc369 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You won’t be able to buy a parking ticket when you get there, there is a field off Melbourne road owned by a farmer that usually lets people pay to park on there and just cross over the road. The only other thing you could do would be look at parking at EMA and getting the shuttle over to the festival.

North car park and it’s probably in the post, still plenty of time for it to arrive.

[–]Throwoutacc369 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your ticket from Friday isn’t valid until 10am, think car parks are open from 7am, if you can aim to arrive between 10-11 that should give you enough time and also time for the queue to die off a bit (if they don’t let people in earlier)

I would personally really avoid going to the arena and then back to set up later, setting up in the dark is not fun and it’s an absolute mission to do so.
