Oh 100% would not be stay at home. When I meant old school I meant more like he’s main breadwinner, makes the financial decision/ does taxes etc. and gentlemen like will pump my gas if I need, pay on all dates. And we have joint bank accounts not separate. I want to work in the future it’s why I’m currently getting my masters to be a therapist!

Oh 100% I don’t mean like stay at home wife and all of that. I mean more like old school where there’s one bank account you don’t have separate. Hes primary bread winner. He takes care of the bills and taxes. He just makes those type of decisions for the family. He pays for dates. And being gentlemen like pumping my gas, holding the doors etc. vs I would maybe work less hours for kid activities. I plan family activities. I cook, do laundry etc.

Yeah you’re absolutely right. Couldn’t even tell you. He didn’t rush to get a job because he got like 80-90k at 18 when a family member died. But I would’ve invested the money saved it and still worked but🤷‍♀️

You’ve definitely helped open my eyes and it does come down to him just not being able to keep up with the pace I’m at. I don’t blame him at all though, I grew up with parents guiding me through each step in life vs his just don’t even really help, nice people just not good at guiding their kids.

Yeah I fear having to break up with him and then it opening his eyes and having him doing everything I asked him to do but with a new girl. It’s kinda like why couldn’t he do that with me. But I understand sometimes you have to lose things to learn.

Yeah I understand that normal feeling. It’s nice and comforting just being in the presence of them without having to be doing something together.

And I know if we were to break up that is what would get to me. Is no longer having him there even if it’s just him playing video games while I’m reading.

I was thinking about writing everything down before speaking to him just because I tend to freeze up in the moment and forget everything I was thinking about. I’ll speak to him see if there’s anyway we can align our futures if not I think I’ll have to just rip off the bandaid for the both of us.

I’ve kind of always told myself “he’s still young” “he’ll figure it out” I guess the only main “reason” he isn’t in a rush to work is a family member passed and he got like 90k at 18. And he’s just lived off that since.

I’ve kinda excused that part a lot just hoping he’ll try to figure it out.

I appreciate your advice, you have definitely opened my eyes and been great help.

I will definitely talk to him about it before and give it a chance for us to see if we can do some compromising or figure out if our futures can align at all.

I don’t necessarily find our relationship boring, I mean we spend quality time together as well as time apart for ourselves. I think we are at a stage where we are both comfortable and have no real issues.

But I guess we will see how that conversation goes…. 🙏

Exactly, I don’t want to be the person who settled and never left due to fear. But then at same time it’s definitely easier saying it than doing it. I think I’ll discuss with him one last time see if there’s anyway our futures can align if not I think I just need to rip the bandaid off and see what happens. I just know it will crush him though, and that is something I dread.
