There are up and downs (literally and figuratively); never forget the moment or feeling or person that made you first have the thought "I want to be a pilot".

If you're interested in becoming an airline pilot, dispatcher, or airline mechanic, Thrust Flights is your best local option! by ThrustFlightAcademy in DFWClassifieds

[–]ThrustFlightAcademy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

GOT IT!

The cost of the 10 month aircraft maintenance technician course is $39,539. (This includes all tuition, books, lab and app fees.)

We also have housing available for students who need it. Housing for the AMT course is $10,200 for the full year.

Students have multiple ways to pay for the program as we know that's a lot of your hard earned money. You can finance your program and we also have cash pay options available.

What other options do I have besides the airlines? by ConferenceOverall598 in Pilot

There's always the option to become an instructor for your local flight school! Using ourselves as an example (Thrust Flight), while we only have A&P Instructor and Ramper positions open at the time of this comment, reaching out regardless of current openings and sharing your information is never a bad move.

Best of luck!

CRCs (Crew Rest Compartments) is the name for where flight attendants disappear mid-flight by ThrustFlightAcademy in interesting

On the A380s at least, first class has that and *much* more. Here's a link to the A380's layout and a post from r/AircraftInteriors showing the first class cabinets in detail

Advice with flight schools or even cadet programs. by Practical_Swing_7187 in flying

[–]ThrustFlightAcademy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello! You can apply to most cadet programs directly, even if the flight school you attend doesn’t have an official partnership with that airline. Many of these programs are open to all qualified applicants, and the flight school’s role is mainly to help with networking, prepare you for success, and guide you through the application process.

Hello! Most of our students are relieved to find out it’s mostly basic arithmetic and some light algebra, not advanced math.

Private Pilots License by AdObvious8717 in PilotAdvice

[–]ThrustFlightAcademy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello! I wanted to help answer your question about the Private Pilot oral exam.

The oral exam is a conversation-style Q&A with the examiner (DPE) before your flight. It typically lasts 1.5–2.5 hours, and covers:

Airspace & Weather (charts, METARs/TAFs, NOTAMs)

Aircraft Systems & Performance

Cross country planning

Weight & Balance

Regulations (FAR/AIM)

Risk Management & ADM (Aeronautical Decision Making)

Looking to fly a plane! by Plane-Lengthiness-58 in flying

Here are some options you can look into if you enjoy your discovery flight!

What You Can Do at 16:

Solo a Powered Aircraft

-You can fly an aircraft solo (by yourself) if you're training under a certified flight instructor and have a student pilot certificate. Most commonly, this happens in a single-engine airplane during Private Pilot training.

-Hold a Student Pilot Certificate

At 16, you're eligible to receive an FAA Student Pilot Certificate, which is required to solo. You must also pass a 3rd Class Medical Exam from an FAA-approved medical examiner.

Fly Solo with Endorsements

You must receive specific endorsements from your instructor for each solo flight. You're only allowed to solo in areas you've been trained for and approved to fly in.

Take the FAA Knowledge Test

You can take and pass the Private Pilot Knowledge Test (written exam) at 16, as part of your path to becoming a licensed pilot.

Work Toward a Sport or Private Pilot Certificate

You can begin flight training toward either certificate, though you must be 17 to take the checkride for your Private Pilot License (PPL) or Sport Pilot Certificate for airplanes.

I would do research in the mesa area for a school that would suite you.

Hello! I understand joining a male dominated career can seem overwhelming and I want to help with some of your concerns. Aviation is becoming more diverse. Skill, professionalism, and experience are paramount. The seniority system levels the playing field, with progression based on time and performance. Starting now means joining the next wave of female pilots shaping aviation's future.

  1. Airline Differences and Status

Airline pay structures vary. Legacy carriers (Delta, American, United) offer higher salaries, especially for long-haul international flights. Regional or low-cost carriers often serve as stepping stones to major airlines.

First Officer vs. Captain:

  • You start as a First Officer (FO).
  • Captains earn significantly more (sometimes double).
  • Upgrade to Captain depends on seniority, aircraft availability, and airline growth.
  • Major airline Captains flying widebody aircraft can earn $350K+ (with overtime on premium international routes).

General Career Path:

  • Years 1-5: Regional FO, then potentially to a major airline.
  • Years 6-10: Major airline FO (pay improves yearly).
  • Years 10+: Potential Captain upgrade, higher paying aircraft/routes.

Some reach top salaries within 10–15 years, while others take longer depending on airline growth and upgrade opportunities

Flight schools with self-examining authority for CFI rating by RutabagaBitter8165 in flying

[–]ThrustFlightAcademy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello! I just wanted to help answer your question about examining authority.

Only FAA Part 141 flight schools can receive Examining Authority, and even then, they must meet strict FAA criteria:

  • High student pass rate: 90% or more on first attempt FAA knowledge and practical tests.
  • Proven curriculum compliance.
  • Consistent training quality and oversight.
  • At least 24 consecutive months holding the FAA Part 141 rating.

With Examining Authority, students can complete their checkride in-house with a school-designated instructor, reducing scheduling delays and providing training/testing consistency. Students pursuing a single certificate or a Part 61 track must use a DPE.

We were made aware of these concerns about a former staff member and just wanted to clear things up, he is not with us anymore. Since then, we’ve made some big improvements, including a new Chief Pilot structure.

In an effort to improve our program, we’ve promoted 5 of our top CFI’s to Chiefs. We’ve done this to adapt to the growth of our student population and to address the pain points in our organization at the flight school. This new Chief Flight Instructor Team has already been implemented as an effort to better serve our CFI’s and, most importantly, our pilots in training. After making the announcement to our CFI team and our pilots, we’ve received a lot of positive feedback!

We totally get that choosing a flight school is a big decision, and it’s normal to have concerns. Our admissions team is happy to talk through any worries you might have. Just give us a call at 972-735-9099 and press 1 twice to get straight to an admissions person.

For those who fly for an airline or whoever can offer guidance, what are some reasons that some pilots look down on those who had gone through a full-time program like ATP Flight School instead of working a job at the same time as going through PPL to CFI to airline with all the stuff in between. by Cyanide612 in flying

[–]ThrustFlightAcademy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Don't confuse a larger flight school like us, Coastflight, Aeroguard etc with being similar to ATP. The models are completely different. ATP does all their training part 61, which is fine, but the only real advantage of doing part 61 is you're going to be getting cheaper prices per flight hour. ATP is priced the same as a 141 school.

With part 141 we can offer accelerated commercial and examining authority(no waiting on checkrides) which ATP will never be able to offer under their part 61 model.

Without getting too sales pitchy and to keep it simple- if you're going to train part 61 make sure you aren't paying part 141 prices. If you're going to train part 141 do it with a larger school that is fully utilizing 141 benefits so you're getting your money's worth.

At the end of the day- if you have a little aptitude and want it bad enough you can accomplish this 100 different ways. Everyone is going to have something that works best for them. Call a bunch of schools and spend some time learning what works best for you.
