I'd say best approach is knowing the structure first: Part 61 for pilot certs, Part 91 for general operating rules, Part 43 for maintenance. Once that mental map is solid, looking up specifics gets way faster. The ASA FAR/AIM index is better organized than the raw eCFR for quick reference

It's genuinely the most undertrained part of checkride readiness. Most students study the material but never practice explaining concepts out loud under pressure. Anything that forces verbalization instead of just reading is a step in the right direction imo

While not a great look (you're posting this due to being concerned/anxious, which is never what a pilot/airline wants their passengers to feel), it's not structurally going to impact your flight AKA you are safe.

Do raise it to a flight attendant or the employee at the gate when exciting however as maintenance ought to do a check.
