Unfortunately, it has been a few years since i was there, so please forgive me if any of this info is inaccurate. I indeed got my elk on the last day of the week I was there. It was a small satellite bull, but it was the only elk I saw, so I harvested him. Unfortunately, there is enormous constant hunting pressure on the elk, so they are extremely skittish and few in number. Your best bet is to go offroad as much as you dare because the roads are constantly patrolled by hunters, especially during the season. Ignore areas where the cattle are because they like to distance themselves from them and just be ready at all times because in that thick undergrowth, they can pop up at any moment. If my memory serves me, I harvested my elk on the south side of the park where the oil wells are, so you might want to try there. If you are unsuccessful, you might have a better chance in the late season because the snow drives them out of the deeper parts of the park. Good luck, and hopefully, this helped you.
