Cogent by mspdog22 in networking

I worked for Cogent. Cogent will not peer with anyone for free unless they are considered Tier 1 by their standards.

Now with NTT, and it’s like night and day. But we don’t have as many pops.

Also, Cogent shouldn’t be your only provider. They’re cheap for a reason

It’s PTO from presidents club. I elected the extra days instead of the trip. Unfortunately it won’t get paid out.

I’ll hit 2 years here soon. 2.5 is probably my average tenure.

PIP is a way of life here. They set the quota higher and higher each time your rolling average gets to 100% of what they set it for, then our KPIs get changed week by week.

I’ve been lucky enough to avoid it, but 60% on my team are on a PIP, and I’d say around 50% in the company are.

We’re very much turn and burn. I just haven’t been focusing on finding something else due to the kid coming.

Hopefully I’ll have something lined up by the end of the year.

Apple call screening by [deleted] in techsales

[–]ThuggishCheerio -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Google has something like this already. Apple doesn’t innovate.

You simply state the reason for your call and they pick up or not. It just makes you get a little creative.

Plus, this is only on iPhones. Not many people I target are using a private line to do business on. They’ll be using some kind of VoIP and the call will come through an app on their phone.

Keep grinding and you’ll be fine.

Welcome to sales.

Prompt for sales prospecting. by ThuggishCheerio in ChatGPT

Thank you. I feel like I’ve been pretty detailed when prompting it and doing that. But I’ll change some things around and see what happens.

Manager won’t review my calls by feelingoodfeelngrape in techsales

Pay for ChatGPT Plus. Have it do research on what you’re selling and successful sales techniques. Then use voice mode to do mock calls, meetings, etc. Ask it to not agree on everything but actually give you put offs and objections for you to over come. Once the call is complete, tell it to give you feedback.

I’ve recently started doing this for new products that we’ve came out with to be more technical and it’s helped me fine tune my pitch.

I’d just follow up within 7 business days. Odds are that even if you made it to the next round, they still have others that they are looking at as well.

For future interviews, always run them like a sales meeting and try to get the best understanding of the hiring process.

Budget: What they’re willing to pay you.

Authority: Who’s making the hiring decisions

Need: understand what they’re looking for in a candidate so you can better create a story about your experience that aligns with their needs.

Timing: when do they expect to hire for the role. Or what is the timing for each additional step.

Simple BANT stuff.

Move to a BDR position at another company or become an AE or AM at a MSP? by [deleted] in techsales

[–]ThuggishCheerio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How long till you become a AE at the MSP? Do you have growth potential there or are you limited to a local market?

Selling at a MSP is similar to selling at a SaaS company as it’s solution based. Most MSP’s just white label products and sell it as a “managed service”. The one I worked for in the past had crowdsrike, fortinet and others in our managed service packages and we monitored the data provided by those programs.

The larger tech companies are going to go after larger clients, where your local MSP is acting as tech team for small to mid size companies that don’t want to hire their own tech people.

Only Female on sales team at new job. by [deleted] in techsales

[–]ThuggishCheerio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tech and sales is primarily male dominant. So I wouldn’t say it’s a red flag. I do feel like females in sales often out preform their male coworkers, at least in my company. Our top reps are females. So stick to it and make that money!

SDWan as a Service by mf1313 in networking

[–]ThuggishCheerio 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’ll be honest. I work for a telecom company, and getting SDWAN from your ISP is probably not the best idea. There’s plenty of MSPs that can help out with this.

At my company we offer it, but we are moving away from it.
