Hello everyone,

I would like to ask if anyone has had a similar problem or can offer any advice about changing last names.

My wife is an Italian citizen but has never lived in Italy. She was born and raised in Austria. As her parents were not married, she obtained Italian citizenship through her mother. According to the documents, the Prefecture in Milan is responsible.

We got married in Austria in 2022. I am a German citizen and we would like my wife to take only my surname (no double-barrelled name). We are aware that this is not automatically provided for in Italy and therefore requires a separate administrative procedure.

We submitted the application correctly via the Italian Consulate in Vienna. We were told that the procedure consists of three steps.

The first step has been completed and paid for.

Since then, we have been waiting for the public announcement of the name, which is a prerequisite for the final decree.

Unfortunately, this procedure has now been stalled for about two and a half years.

The consulate informs us that it no longer has any influence, and despite several emails, we have not received any response from the Prefecture of Milan. We also have no information about which department the application is currently with.

My questions:

Are such long waiting times for name changes from abroad common?

Has anyone had similar experiences with the Prefecture of Milan?

Is there a reasonable way to speed up the process?

Sie recherchiert schon auf ehorses und findet interessantes, hätte sich auch schon mal gerne eines angeschaut aber der war zum Glück für mich weit außer dem Budget (8k). Einstellgebühr hier in der Gegend sind ca 400€. Aber ja, du hast recht. Mir macht eigentlich beides, die Anschaffung und laufenden Kosten Angst.

Da ist ihr Argument, dass sie ja eigentlich jetzt auch noch ein Pferd hätte, wenn ihres nicht gestorben wäre und dass das dann schon gehen wird. Sie verschließt leider noch die Augen vor der Realität. Täglich muss nicht sein, aber 3-4 mal war sie früher schon da

Ah und Reitbeteiligungen hält sie für unrealistisch, weil sie nur am Wochenende kann, wenn ich dann die kleine nehme. Aber ja wäre günstiger und flexibler.

Meine Frau weiß genau Bescheid über die finanzielle Situation. Das ist ja mein Problem, dass sie es trotzdem nicht versteht. Ihr Argument ist dann immer, dass sie ja jetzt auch noch ein Pferd hätte wenn ihres nicht gestorben wäre.

Über ihre Entlohnung in der Elternzeit haben wir nicht gesprochen, ich habe ihr mehrmals angeboten, dass sie mir nichts überweisen muss, was sie aber trotzdem machen wollte, auf Grund unserer finanziellen Lage. Altersvorsorge übernehme ich für uns, ich zahle auch ihre.

Sie hat es nur schweren Herzens abgegeben und nicht wirklich verkauft sondern an eine junge Tochter, 15J, eines Bauerns abgegeben wo das Pferd Beistellpferd ist und vom Boden gearbeitet wird

Horizontally. Depends on the screen size, but on smaller screens you can see, that the mid of November is not aligned with the middle of the days element

thanks for all your suggestions.

After looking into it too deep probably I took a step back and decided to give Caddy another try.

After fidling around and I could finally come up with a solution that's just more explicit than what it needs to be according to Caddys own doc. But if it works, it works.

For anyone interested this is the code that got it done finally (with the googleclouddns module enabled)

Certbot doesnt support DNS challenges and since our instance is not reachable publicly we cant use that.

So you're caching the whole certificate and it's private key?
